I’m having trouble receiving text messages on my Inspire. How do I set that up? I’m getting phone call notifications. I have an iPhone X.

Hi this is my idea Go to Settings > Notifications > Messages. Choose options, including the following: Turn Allow Notifications on or off. Set the position and locations of message notification if you are wondering YES I got this online. But if this does not work call Fitbit support at +1-877-623-4997 I called them about an issue and they solved the problem very quickly REMBER WHEN THEY GIVE YOU A CASE NUMBER KEEP IT! Have a good day

I had the same issue until just now (and I bought it this morning). Nothing about navigating the settings>apps>notifications instructions worked for me, solely, until I played around with the app. From the dashboard "today" page in the app, select the "person" icon in the top left. Select your device under "Devices", then scroll down and select "Notifications". There, you can manipulate which notifications you receive and from where. Now, this worked for me after restarting the device a few times and making sure the notifications icon was not unselected on the device. So, it may have been a combination of these tactics or only one, I cannot say, however, it didn't start working until I went through the app. But now, it stays connected to Bluetooth.

Hope this helps.

Thank you! I'm not having troubles at the moment, but this would have saved
me a TON of frustration earlier. Good to know.

I literally just received my Fitbit today and already love it. I too was just receiving phone call notifications but I have figured out how to get text messages for iPhone. You cannot have your notifications “hidden” on your phone. So basically when your iPhone is locked and someone texts you it will show up on your lock screen or at least a part of the message. Once this is set it will show up on your Fitbit.

Hello

i just received the Inspire HR and text messages were not alerting on the FITBIT. After 2 frustrating hours, I solved the problem.
>SETTINGS. >NOTIFICATIONS. >SCROLL TO MESSAGES. MAKE SURE >SHOW PREVIEW IS ON >ALWAYS. Mine was on Never which was why I couldn’t get texts. Please include this tip in your troubleshooting guide. My Alta stopped receiving texts when I got the iPhone 11. Apparently the default is never and I never knew to make sure show previews was toggled on. Please share.

@Beck00 Welcome to the Community.

Thank you so much for sharing this tip with the Community. This is already stated in the help article: How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device? where it says:

Show previews
Tap Settings > Notifications. Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.

Still thank you for helping others by sharing this information.

Let me know how it goes.

I had tried all those suggestions except plugging the watch directly to my laptop  with its charger. So After several days of just leaving the watch alone I did plug it directly into my laptop and it turned on immediately. I couldn’t believe it. I was so happy because it was a gift from my son. Plugging directly into the laptop must have jumpstarted it.

I have read the entire thread and done just about everything suggested and I still could not get text messages on my Inspire HR.

In checking Bluetooth settings finally, I noticed the Alta that I replaced with this new Inspire was still syncing with Fitbit even though I had removed it from the Fitbit iPhone app. I selected "Forget This Device" and rebooted the Fitbit app on the phone and instantly I began getting my text messages on my new Inspire HR.

I hope this may help some of you that still do not have your issue resolved.

I found that I followed all the instructions and none of them sync'd, then if you go into APP permissions on your phone, you can change it there for allowing text, phone, ETC. Even if you think you are allowing it, or have it marked in the app or under notifications, it can still be denied in your app permissions.
