From the clock screen, swipe down and open the Settings app (the settings icon). Confirm that the "Dim screen" option is turned off to prevent the screen dim.
Also, check that Sleep Mode is turned off in the Quick Settings by pressing and holding the buttons.
Regarding the live real time heart rate on the Fitbit app, please know that as long as your Fitbit is actively connected via Bluetooth the new app will show your current heart rate. Please confirm that you have selected the focus 'heart health' by pressing the pencil tile that allows you to change the dashboard. After that, swipe to the left until you find heart health.
