Inaccurate sleep, calories and step detection on Inspire

Hiya,

I got a Fitbit inspire yesterday and wore it yesterday afternoon and overnight. Yesterday the information seemed inaccurate but I assumed that was just it getting into things.

I wore it overnight and when I woke up I found it doesn't think I had slept for a single second, but that I did do 295 steps overnight. I then made my bed, walked to the bathroom and walked to the kitchen and now I am on nearly 800 steps.

I am confused with the calories too. I woke up and had burnt 425 calories - which I assumed was their estimate of what I would burn overnight, is that correct? But then from that short sequence of movement I just described, I am now up to 574 calories which again seems quite a jump.

I am not sure what's happening, could anybody help at all please?

Thank you,

Chanel

@coc0chanel Thanks for being part of our Community!

Let me help you with your steps, sleep and calorie calculation. Your device will detect the movement on your arm and translate that movement into steps. There are situations in which your arm may move but you won't be actually walking. For example, this may happen when you are playing the drums, burping a baby or clapping. It can also happen while driving. You can negate these steps by logging a driving activity. You can try wearing your device on your non-dominant hand but select that hand as dominant on the device’s settings to make it less sensitive to movement.

Regarding sleep, the Fitbit Inspire will start recording sleep after it detects an hour of inactivity. If you have a light sleep or move too much then this may difficult your sleep detection. Additionally you can try wearing your device on your non dominant hand to decrease the amount of movement it is subjected to. Finally you can restart your device. You can also manually log your sleep time. You can read more about sleep detection here.

Finally the calories you see are determined by your personal information (age, weight, height) to calculate your BMR which are the calories you use for normal bodily functions. This added to the calories burned through activities will show on your account as the total calories burned.

Let me know how it goes.

My Fitbit Inspire had me at 2200 calories burned when I woke up. At the end of the day, it was over 9500. My height and weight are accurate, the steps seem accurate too (~11000). I tried restarting the app & relinking my device. Then I tried removing the app and downloading it from the play store again. I relinked my Fitbit & the time was inaccurate, so I tried again. It's still showing over 9500 calories burned. Do I have to wait until after midnight to see if the reset worked?
