Inspire 2 Caloric Burn Accuracy

Alright, I need your help. I just bought myself an Inspire 2 to help better track specifically heart rate and calorie burn. I’ve read article after article and it seems like everyone has a different answer:

How accurate is the caloric burn stat? Is there a way to make it more accurate by not logging specific workouts? Right now I’m just counting it as “extra calories burned” and not increasing my calories in because it seems like there may be an overestimation of calories burned.

You mention logging workouts.  By this, do you mean that you manually enter the workout after it is done?  If so, that is not using the heart rate and calorie data that was actually recorded, instead overriding that with an estimate based on the parameters you enter.  Manually logging like this is best saved for times when you were not wearing the tracker.

To have it use the data that was actually recorded, presumably more accurate, it is better to use the Exercise App on your wrist.

See How do I track my workouts with my Fitbit device?  for more information on using the Exercise App.

The 3rd option is to just let Fitbit handle it all.  This also uses the data actually recorded, leading to more accurate daily totals than manually logging workouts.  But, relying on auto-recognition, some workouts might get missed or labeled incorrectly, affecting  individual workout logs but not affecting daily totals.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
