Inspire 2 constantly switching into settings

I've recently bought the Inspire 2 and it's driving me insane.  It's seems that wrist movement knocks the side button so it's continually switching in and out of settings.  It vibrates each time it does it (but despite hours of trying I can't get the thing to vibrate when I get a phone call!) so it is going off all day and sometimes it results in settings being changed, e.g. switching into DND mode which then stops screen wake working.

I've tried wearing it much further up my wrist and that helps a bit but it inevitably slips down so then I have an annoying floppy watch as well as all the other problems!  Is there any other solution?

I was thinking this exact thing! How is it possible they didn't catch this in testing? It is such a huge issue.

My current “work around” ~ I put the large band on the inspire, wearing it on the same wrist as my Apple Watch ~ without the pressure from my wrist and arm triggering the sides, it’s not f’ing with my Fitbit as much anymore. It’s awkward as heck having both devices on one wrist, but it’s keeping my Fitbit from having a mind of its own. I can use it to track my strength training workouts without it shutting off, and the battery life has now lasted longer than 30-minutes lol

I have ladies at the gym asking my opinion about FitBit (I’ve had one for 8+ years) and I’m trying to turn everyone AWAY from the inspire 2 because of this poorly designed device; I tell them to look at the Charge or Sense, instead. If I hadn’t received it as a Christmas gift, I would have returned it the next day because it’s aggravating.

Why are they not addressing our concerns?  I’ve been wearing a Fitbit for years and the constant vibration, even now as I am typing this is so irritating.

Same!  And this is the first fitbit that i need a cover to protect the screen.  A week old and it is scuffed up already.

Mine went back yesterday! I can’t see spending that much money on something that frustrates me that I would never wear it!

I'm so over this stupid tracker turning itself on all day long and wearing down the battery.  I type all day long and just the motion of moving my hands to type and then pick up the phone (etc) activates it.  What is worse is when it turns itself on during the night while I'm trying to sleep!  Bend your hand one little bit in your sleep and suddenly its all lit up in my face!  Mine was a free gift and even at that cost isn't worth the price and hassle at this point. Additionally, unlike all my other fitbits and other trackers I've ever had, one week in and this one is already scratched across the face! So sad.

Sorry, know my response is pretty belated. Hopefully this is helpful to someone.

I recently received the Inspire 2 and had this problem as well. I found moving it up my arm to be pretty uncomtortablea, but something that helps stop this issue for me is to wear a wristband or bracelet (I use a rubber wrist band), and wear it on my wrist, and wear my inspire below it. helps to wear another one beneath it (so your inspire is between two wristbands). It's far from foolproof, but has proven the most effective in solving this problem for me.

thanks, Frankly the fitbit respose to this and the scuffing of the new
inspire 2 within a week of use is lacking. I don't plan on buying another,
but don't really want to go through the hassle of fighting returns.

Fitbit best hope I don't get asked a lot "how do I like my fitbit"?

Totally fair! As I'm disabled, I was lucky enough to receive my Inspire 2 free from my Medicare advantage plan, so I'm not out any money. I can definitely see why this is the model they chose to distribute for free, though. Not an ideal design.

I spoke to support today about this issue and they've given me a workaround

Have the display you most want to see on your Fitbit visible on your screen, e.g. for me it's the time and number of steps

Go into settings and make sure screen wake is on - I had turned this off as it was causing extra vibrations

In the same area of settings turn on water lock.  This will lock the side buttons so your wrist can't knock them.  While in water lock, screen wake still works so you can lift your wrist to see the time and steps or whatever your preferred view is.  You can't scroll through the view while in water lock to see other data, you'll only see whatever view you selected before turning on water lock

I've tested notification for calls and reminders to move and they still work and display on the screen.

You have to double tap the face of your Fitbit to turn off water lock so that shouldn't happen accidentally.

If you want to put your Fitbit into sleep mode, you'd have to undo water lock, put it in sleep mode and redo water lock.  So that's a bit of a pain to do at night and undo each morning.  I think I'll stick with the bright lights during the night 🙂

So not a perfect solution but it does make the device much more usable

Thanks, I will try this last suggestion.

Thanks so much for that workaround!  It is worth a try at least!

I thought this was just me! I have to take it off when typing and doing so many activities so it doesn’t drive me crazy. I don’t want a bulkier tracker but I’m really thinking about returning it.

Same problem here 😕 any chance getting it fixed by software update?

The workaround is ok, but why was this not user-tested before it went to market?  This is clearly an issue and should be fixed, push out a bug fix FitBit!!

I’m having the same issues. Very annoying! I just received my Inspire 2 today (had the Alta). Beginning to think it’s not worth the hassle. May be sending it back... I will try the work arounds that you suggested. I do hope Fitbit comes up with a more permanent solution. Although I am not holding my breath. I’m still waiting on a fix for the cycle calendar issue!

Hey there! I just received my device today and was having the same issue!! The customer rep claimed they have bever heard of this issue. I did find out how to fix it. Go to settings and screen wake needs to be on. Then in settings it needs to press "button lock" off.

The button lock came along last revision, I think. I tried it, to no
avail. But I will try again.
