I bought a 2-story house last week, but the Fitbit doesn't recognize when I go upstairs. IMO it should be counting every time I go up, at least, if not up and down. I tried resetting it per the instructions (smiley face), but that didn't do any good. What's the matter with it? I received it for Christmas 2020, so it's practically brand new.
By the way, I wear it on my left wrist (even tho I hate it).

Hi, @Rottnhombre , your Fitbit Inspire 2 will not count floors because it does not have that feature! Only Fitbits with altimeters are able to count floors, and the Inspire 2 does not have an altimeter.
Therefore you do not need to troubleshoot further.
If you would like a tracker that will count floors I would suggest trying one of the Charge series (Charge 4 is the most recent) or one of the smartwatches.
I hope this helps!

Hello @Rottnhombre, welcome to the community forums! Thank you for the information and the troubleshooting steps you've tried prior to posting!
Your Inspire 2 doesn't count floors. It doesn't have altimeter. Fitbit devices that count floors have an altimeter sensor that detects when you go up in elevation. If you have a Fitbit device that has an altimeter, it will register 1 floor when you climb about 10 feet or 3 meters. (Otherwise, Floors won't be detected) Fitbit devices uses changes in barometric pressure combined with the steps you take to calculate floors climbed. Fitbit devices don’t count floors on stationary exercise equipment, such as a StairMaster or treadmill, or when you go down a flight of steps.
Hope this helps!

@WilsonFitbit- Your linked quiz doesn't ask the question the OP expressed wasn't working (actually isn't part of the tracker, but didn't know based on Fitbit inaccurate advertising) -- it doesn't ask about floors tracked no matter which way you input the questions...closest it gets is the GPS tracking, but that still fails to address OP post about FLOORS COUNTED. Fitbit needs to get its act together!

Those are ads placed by third parties, not Fitbit, so the reliability of the results is questionable.

Hmmm. I have an Inspire 2 and it did track floors just fine until it stopped tracking floors! So it does have an altimiter. Fitbit customer support no help so far.

That doesn't explain why my Inspire 2 did count floors and then stopped!

Hi @lilyma the Inspire 2 user manual lists the different activities it tracks (Page 30) and the components (Page 44) and there is NO altimeter, so it can't recognize your stairs. Even the sales information on the Inspire 2 doesn't list flights of stairs. click to read the user manual. Sure you have the Inspire 2? There are a few similar looking Fitbits that do have altimeters.

@Choaswitchgreen , A warm welcome to the Community! Thank you for your message.
As described above the Inspire 2 does not count floors as it doesn't have an altimeter on it's hardware.
Are you using another tracker with it? I ask, because if you are seeing floors on your records, those might be recorded by another Fitbit linked to the account.
See you around.

@choasawitchgreen - NO it does NOT. As is proven over and over again by all the complaints in various threads that the advertising states that it does but when you actually buy and use it, it doesn't even register floors on the device and floors disappears from the app if you have the inspire. You should have your facts straight before posting incorrect information. This https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Inspire-Inspire-HR/Do-the-Inspire-and-Inspire-HR-count-floors/td-p/4... also confirms that it does not from a moderator stating such.
