Often enough, my recording of my exercise disappears before I have a chance to download it which means that all data is lost and no exercise recorded. It is very inconvenient. Can you help please?

Please, make sure that you are using the lastest version of the Fitbit app: How do I use the Fitbit app?
Also, confirm that you are using the latest version of your device: How do I update my Fitbit device?
I'd suggest you perform a restart as indicated here: How do I restart my Fitbit device?
Beside that, I'd ask you please confirm that you are finishing the activities or exercises, not just paused them. After finishing the activity sync your device whit the Fitbit app: How do Fitbit devices sync their data?
