A few days into using a new Inspire 2 and I’m getting really frustrated.
I have the correct height, weight, age input, I understand that Fitbit uses my BMR and then adds on the calories I burn through the day. That’s fine.
What’s not fine is that according to this Inspire 2 I’m burning over 3500 calories on an average day. Now my BMR according to several calculators is about 1500 and if I were to eat at maintenance calories it should be about 2000. Why on earth does Fitbit think I’m burning such an enormous amount of calories when I’m fairly sedentary?
I need this sorted as I wanted to get a better view of calories burned through the day but right now I’m considering just returning the thing. It also thinks I’m exercising while doing very little and when I manually take my heart rate it’s fine….

Hi, @MegP86 , have you also checked that the units on your stats are correct? I had some unusual calorie burn recorded once and I discovered that although I had entered my weight in pounds, the units were in kilograms - which meant the program thought I weighed more than twice as much, and therefore was burning a LOT of calories with every activity.
Just a thought…

You also mentioned that it was over calculating your activity. Could you give any more information about this? Is it counting a lot of extra “hand” steps? (Though to be fair extra steps usually do not add up to a lot of calories.). I am a little puzzled by this.
