Inspire 2 no longer tracking sleep consistently

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

last week my fitbit inspire 2 stopped tracking my sleep, then the next day it recorded until 2 AM, the following day it tracked the whole night, for 2 days it did not track, then for 2 days it tracked until 3 am and 2 am. This type of erratic functionality continued.....

I made sure it was "on wrist" and that sleep was not crossed out. I wear it on the same tightness as all the previous years. the fit bit is fully charged.  I removed the app and reloaded, I did a hard reboot and it tracked that night, then stopped again the following nights.

I would like a refund of my premium fees if this is something that cannot be resolved.

Moderator edit:  updated subject for clarity

Can someone look into this?

I think they are done with trying to fix the problem. Here is the latest email.

apparently this is not going to be fixed, and the choice is, keep using a device that I pay for sleep info and expect it to work half the time, or cancel my subscription and find a new device.

The most annoying thing is their last statement, that if I have concerns about my sleep, seek a professional. !!!

“We're writing to you regarding your recent inquiry about missing sleep data in your Fitbit records. We understand that some days appear to be missing, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Several factors can influence sleep patterns, and these extend beyond the device's functionality. These may include:

  • Stress, depression, or anxiety: These conditions can significantly impact sleep quality and duration.
  • Medications: Certain medications can disrupt sleep patterns.
  • Age: As we age, our natural sleep patterns tend to shift, and heart rate variability may decrease.
  • Body position: Sleep position can affect how well the device tracks sleep data.

For the missing days, we recommend two options:

  1. Manually enter sleep data: You can manually add the sleep times for the missing days in your Fitbit app.
  2. Modify incorrectly recorded data: If the sleep data seems partially inaccurate, you can adjust the sleep start and end times in the app.

Adding this information, even if estimated, will help your Fitbit better understand your sleep patterns and improve the accuracy of future sleep data tracking.

Additional Tips:

  • Ensure your Fitbit device is properly secured during sleep for optimal data collection.
  • Maintain a consistent sleep schedule whenever possible.
  • If you continue to experience frequent missing sleep data or have concerns about your sleep quality, we recommend consulting a healthcare professional for further evaluation.”

The loss of sleep data has been a recurring issue since Google purchased Fitbit. I have not gotten a sleep score or full data since 3/27/2024.  I have tried every suggestion to fix the problem, without success.  In the past, when the same problem occurred, nothing worked for weeks at a time, but then suddenly resolved itself. It seems that it is a setting in the app, over which users have no control.  I have had Fitbit trackers for years and they worked fine, until recently.  With the persistent glitches that are currently occurring, I am seriously considering switching to a different brand.

So far, I’ve been using both to see how accurate the Oura is…it’s been right on the mark with the same readings as my Fitbit. The Oura measures my sleep and sleep cycles every night, no question about it not measuring the nightly.

Bottom line, I like the Oura better.

(Oh, this is an update reply to my own post on page 1... strange it does not say that here.... )

Started doing what it supposed to do after some restart phone, reboot and update actions.

But now there is a new issue.

Since today I do not get the same nice sleeppattern overview I got really used to. (I actually showed it to my doctor and said it really helped me.) Like this one:

Now I only get this:

And that is not sufficient for me. So what happened this time?

And should I now really look into the warranty of this very untrustworthy fitbit, I only bought last December, and look for a better alternative?

I have owned Fitbit’s for a long time and ever since googl* bought them it has been an issue.

I’m disappointed.
