Inspire 2 stopped sleep tracking

I see this has been reported umpteen times, and I can't see a cause or a fix anywhere, but perhaps someone can help, even if not Fitbit themselves.

- it is worn correctly on my wrist (it worked fine for 2 months)

- the battery is not run down

- sleep tracking is automatic

- my sleep patterns have not changed and last more than 3 hours

- in addition, I have done a full reset of the Inspire 2

None of this makes any difference. Is there actually a solution to this, or do I just write it off?

Heart rate tracking is necessary for sleep tracking, so fixing that might fix the sleep tracking.

First, make sure your Fitbit is set to On Wrist. To do this, access the secret settings by holding both side buttons for about 2 seconds. You should see Water Lock pop up, scroll down to the bottom of this list and make sure it says On Wrist. If it says On Clip, tap that and change it to On Wrist.

If that doesn't fix your heart rate tracking, there is another option in the regular settings. Briefly tap both side buttons until the screen turns on and shows your main watch face (time, etc). Scroll up until you see the gear icon with Settings under it. Tap that and the first option should be Dim Screen, the second should be Phone GPS and the third should be Heart Rate. Make sure Heart Rate is set to On.

Thanks - the first part was all OK - the second wasn't. For some reason my heart rate tracker had switched off, don't ask me how. I have switched it back on and will see if it goes back to normal. Thanks for the suggestion!

That worked! Simple really. I never saw that check in the other responses. Just the flannel about why it might not record properly...

Thanks again.

Tried both options and my sleep still isn't tracking. It stopped the day my premium membership was done. My HR is tracking.. just not my sleep

Good to see you around the community @Born2write.

Thanks for letting us know about the inconvenience with your Inspire 2.

In addition to the suggestions provided above, please keep in mind that there are some factors that may prevent your tracker from recording your sleep. Please make sure of the following:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device as described in this help article.
  • If you slept for less than 1 hour for sleep patterns or less than 3 hours for sleep stages.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

If you haven't done so already, please try to complete a restart.

In addition, please wear your device on your non-dominant hand and monitor it for the next few days. In the meantime, for the nights that don't have sleep data, you can manually log your sleep by going to the Fitbit app, tapping on the "+" icon next to the sleep tile > Add Sleep Log and entering your details.

Sadly I have tried all of that. Spoke with customer service today and hopefully it will work and start tracking sleep again tonight.. I'm not too optimistic but I guess there's hope

As an update, what we tried yesterday seemed to work. Try changing your sleep setting on your Fitbit dashboard on your computer. Change from sensitive to normal...  then re-boot your Fitbit and "add new device" to your app... It worked and it tracked my sleep last night. Hopefully it keeps tracking. 🤞
