Inspire 2 stopped working after swimming

Hi wondering if anyone can offer any help?

I wore my Inspire 2 Fitbit on Sunday to go swimming - I was in a regular pool so nowhere more than 50m depth by any means and since my Fitbit has not been the same.

the battery drained overnight and wouldn’t turn on - I’ve since charged it and managed to get it to turn on (initially I didn’t know why it was dead) but it no longer holds its charge at all. It went from 100% charged to flat in 4 hours while I was asleep.
The buttons also don’t respond to me anymore so I can’t get it to do much. Will it come back to life or has it died? It worked fine before going swimming, but given it has a swimming option you should be able to wear it for an hour in the pool?

Hi there, @BekahC90. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the issue with your Inspire 2. I understand where your concern is coming from.

If your device got wet, it’s important to take it off and dry it well before putting it back on. On the other hand, if your device has come into contact with any liquid other than fresh water, you should clean it with fresh water and a soap-free cleanser and dry it with a lint free-cloth.

If you've done the above but to no avail, as @NellyG has suggested, please try restarting your Fitbit device. For instructions, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?

If the restart doesn't work either and your watch hasn't vibrated for the restart process, I'd recommend trying the steps below:

  • Clean the charging contacts on the back of your device and the pins on your charging cable using the instructions in How do I clean my Fitbit device?
  • If the error "insufficient power source" appears on your device's screen, remove other devices plugged in to your power source, or plug your device in to another source.
  • Try a different USB port or a UL-certified wall charger.
  • Check the alignment and try reconnecting your device to the charging cable. For more information, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  • Restart your Fitbit once again.

Nevertheless,
I've seen you contacted our Support Team after posting here and they've already assisted you. If you still need help or have any questions/concerns regarding the outcome of your case, please feel free to contact our team back for further assistance.

Hi @BekahC90 It sounds like some water may have got in. If it has dried out inside, try restarting it a few times (though I don't hold a lot of hope that this will fix it, but worth a try). Yes you should be able to wear it in a pool for as long g as you like, but things fail from  time to time. Contact Fitbit Support  and see if they are able to help.

Hi Marre

Thanks for this, the fitbit is now basically working again, but is no longer holding charge. I tried to contact FitBit support and wasn't able to get any advice other than restart the fitbit. I've done this and that works, but it's not helping the device hold charge anymore. It does charge and charges quickly, but will not hold charge for more than a couple of hours. Obviously this is not sustainable. Please can someone help? Is this fixable or is this the end for my device?
