Inspire 2 won’t come out of water lock. Can’t restart it, because the side buttons aren’t responsive.

Hi. Others had this problem and I wanted to suggest a solution that worked:
don’t wear your inspire2 for 4+ days. Leave it sitting on a bench. This activated the ‘watchdog’ which reset and fixed the problem.

Thanks for the details shared in your post. I understand how you are feeling about this situation and recommend trying the following:
You can find the information about the water lock at What's the water lock setting on Inspire 2?
Hope this helps!

Well that's a horrible answer. The best answer is not to use the product for 4 days? I got this for my husband to inspire him to move. It was sent to me free from BCBS as a reward for having my yearly checkup. I've long been a fan of Fitbit, I wear a Versa 3 and love it. But this Inspire is crap. My husband will never swim. There needs to be a way to disable a swim lock. Or I need to send a letter to BCBS and tell them how awful this "reward" was.

I just had the same issue - I ended up attaching my Fitbit to the charger and when I turned it to look at the screen the Unlock mode came up and I was able to double tap to unlock it. Super annoying. I think I’m just going to take it off to shower from now on.

You are absolutely right -- that is a ridiculous answer. There clearly is a design problem with this. I switch my Inspire 2 from wristband to clip and back at least once a day and change it from wrist to clip. Every time, before and after going through those steps, water lock displays as locked even though every time it appears, I unlock it. Sometimes when I unlock it, it then essentially turns the device off and I have to plug it into the charger and double tap it to get it back. This also is ridiculous and impossible if traveling (unless you bring the charger everywhere you go). Plus, I never wear it in the shower and I don't swim. I asked a chat if I could disable the feature and was informed that, of course, the answer is "no." What a pain!

I have same exact problem. I don’t swim or wear in shower yet I spend a TON of time trying to get out of water lock. It just gets stuck at water Lock Screen. I’m able to double tap to get in and out of the feature but am unable to get to any other screen. I either reboot, plug into charger or more often, I just look at the app to view steps. Can’t even see the click half the time. I’ve had so many Fitbit’s over the years and while they didn’t last, at least you could operate it and view time, stats, etc. I think the developers must’ve moved on to another type of product as they never address the issues. I finally bought the warranty this time and when it died a few months in, it took a full month to get new one! They blamed it on the slow shipping label that THEY send to you to print out! Yep, for real. Awful service and now awful product. Someone please invent a reliable SLIM tracker !

Who carries their charger with them every where they go? When I am at work or working out, I shouldn't have to turn my FitBit on and off to get it off water lock. It comes on by itself, it logs me swimming when I am not. Before the update, my biggest issue was DND randomly popping up. I was so happy when there was an update because I thought things were fixed. Now this. I have owned 2 other FitBits before this one and loved them. This Inspire 2 sucks.

So someone wrote that "In another thread, someone suggested turning on Button Lock to reduce how irritating the water lock is. When Button Lock is on, the buttons only work when the screen is on." However, this does NOT work, at least not for me. I have dutifully tried more than once to engage Button Lock after switching from the wrist band to the clip or vice versa and every time I switch back, I end up with Water Lock showing as locked.
Fitbit replaced my first Inspire 2, declaring it defective after it failed to reboot, but I'm actually not sure it was defective. What is flawed is the design of the Inspire 2 for more than one reason. First is this stupid Water Lock issue. Another, which I posted about separately, is that the elliptical and treadmill exercise programs record fewer steps than the old Fitbit ZIP, my elliptical monitor and, I have learned from tracking this carefully, the Inspire 2 itself! Clearly, design flaws and still no one addresses this.

I hate returning stuff, but I called fitbit today and they told me to return it. Nnice for them, I'm the one who wasted hours trying to get it to function, and now I have to drive to the store and back, wasting my time and gas. I told them that, and that they should give me a coupon or something and they said they can't do that. I mean, I'm a new customer and the product they sold me is a known lemon. They should offer me an upgrade or something for all my time gas and trouble. And I rather doubt a replacement will work any better. and I will lose three days of data. Thhey apparently have no way of restoring it from the app. This company is horrible. I certainly can't recommend them or their products after this experience. Why don't they just roll back the update that appears to have caused the water lock issue. Unless it is a combination of the update and defective devices. They don't seem to know at least not their customer service. who acted as if I needed to be educated on how water lock works - as if I don't turn it off a dozen times a day, only to have it turn itself back on - and the device has never been in water.

Had to piggyback off you Laurie B, like how could I not? 🙂 Very bad answer, indeed. I’ve had mine less than 3 mos and while out walking today, I was sweating. Does fine in the shower but I can’t sweat??? Taking it off for 4 days is less than optimal. Clearly a design flaw. Very disappointing!! -

SERIOUSLY!!! This is a fix you are comfortable with! What's the point of having it if I have to leave it sitting on a bench for 4+ days. And it certainly won't help me to time my swims if I can't turn off the timer while I am in the pool.

so the customer service rep's response is to agree to the customer not using the product they paid for? How does this make sense?
I'm not blaming the customer who made the suggestion.
But I don't want to leave my device sitting on a bench for 4 days.
If Watchdog mode fixes the problem then put out an update that does this without leaving your device sitting on a bench for 4 days.
it doesn't really help to restart the device. Yes, it unbricks it momentarily, but the water lock issue just keeps coming back. Ditto for changing the clock face. These are not fixes. they are at best poor workarounds from customers trying to get some use out of a defective product.

Thank you I have let in sit out for 2 days then I found this and I was this is exactly what in happening. Also what do you mean by “bench” should it be and outside bench could in be a counter, chair, tabel, etc.? Should it be out side or inside?

Exactly! I don't have time to deal with this all day. And I don't always have access to my phone while at work. They need to fix this.
