Inspire 2 sync is slow, taking a long time (5+ mins)

My Inspire 2 takes 5 or more mins to sync with Fitbit app on my iphone (SE).
Does anyone have this issue?
Any suggestions for making the sync quicker?

I have the same problem. Automatic syncing is not impressive and when I try to sync manually, it's sometimes hours after last sync and I can't sync. Quite disappointing.

I have a Samsung S9

@Super_Jack @AEK20 A warm welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thank you for getting in touch about this.

Data automatically syncs to the Fitbit app throughout the day. Each time you open the Fitbit app, your device syncs automatically when it's nearby. You can also use the Sync Now option in the app at any time.

Keep in mind that in order to use the Fitbit app you must have one of the following operating systems installed on your phone or tablet:

  • Apple iOS 12.2 or higher
  • Android OS 7.0 or higher
  • Windows 10 version 1607.0 or higher

Let me know how the troubleshooting goes. I'll be around if you have any additional questions.

Thanks for the reply.  Syncing throughout the day would require the bluetooth and the app are kept on on my iphone SE all the time  That is not an option for me because my iphone battery cannot cope with bluetooth on all the time. The battery would not last a day.

I only switch on bluetooth to pair with devices on demand.  Hence, I switch on bluetooth and the app once a day to sync.  A bit disappointed to realise that I have to wait patiently for several minutes for the data to sync between my Inspire 2 device and the app.

Every time I try to sync using the mobile app, it wants me to set my device up again. It takes forever to find my tracker and then even longer to sync. This is a pain. Disappointed so far.

@lsoh That is even more frustrating.  Luckily my fitbit app on my iPhone SE remembers the device and automatically connects it everytime I switch on the app (and Bluetooth).

Not sure what to suggest for your pairing problem other than trying to uninstall the fitbit app, reboot your phone and reinstall the app to see if the app would persist pairing with your fitbit.

I have a Samsung S9 like Super_Jack, and I had no sync issues for 2 weeks. Now all of a sudden I'm getting the "sync is taking a while, sit tight" message. It's been circling for 10 min and still no sync. I don't keep my location on all day. I turn it on when I want to sync. I closed app, restarted it, and still am getting the same message. Disappointing.

I restarted my phone and the sync worked like a charm.

Hi SilviaFitbit - Tried all troubleshooting measures and still same result. I have OS 10, no Bluetooth v. phone battery problem, have restarted & shut down my phone, turned Bluetooth on/off, restarted the device and it still takes upwards of 20 min to sync if at all. Any other recommendations?

My Fitbit would auto sync with my phone all day until a week ago. It hasn't synced since last week. I tried the sync now option and the sync keeps failing. I've restarted my phone and verified the Bluetooth is on. I don't know what else to do.

I am in Bluetooth and have the correct operating system and it’s still extremely slow.😞

I have done everything you said and my inspire 2 Fitbit will not sync and it’s only about six months old. For the last two months it has not notified me of phone calls or text. I need help.

I am following this (and other discussions) My inspire 2 is also just 6 months old and stopped synching with my tablet a week ago.  I've followed all the online suggestions several times and nothing has worked. It's very disappointing.

Still not working. I shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to get it to sync.  Need to find an alternative. Burn more calories trying to figure out how to get it to sync.

Did you solve this? Mine is doing the same thing. Cannot get it to sync.

I did not solve the problem. I gave up on Fitbit. Because it no longer synced, it no longer even kept time accurately. I tried all of the suggested fixes numerous times and nothing worked. I now have a non-bluetooth watch that keeps time, and counts steps - all I need. Good luck.

I appreciate all the information that you've shared about the difficulty you're experiencing with your devices and thank you for all the troubleshooting steps performed until now.

If you haven't done so already, please try the following steps that have been useful for other users:

  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn Bluetooth off and on.
  • Open the Fitbit app and sync again

In addition, I recommend that you try restarting the device using the three pulse restart method:

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Connect your device to the charging cable. For instructions, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  3. Press and hold the button or buttons on your tracker for 5 seconds.
  4. Release the button. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.

If you're still having any issues, let me know if you already tried all the steps listed here to resolve syncing problems, and make sure to check the compatibility requirements listed here and to keep the Fitbit app updated to the latest version available.
