Inspire 2 won't connect or even appear to new phone

I just bought a Pixel 8.  My Inspire 2 would not connect to the new phone.  I've tried restarting both device and phone.  Turning off and on bluetooth. Revoking access to the old phone which is no longer functional.  Logging out and back into account.  Connecting through the app and through my phone's bluetooth settings.  Disconnecting the device to set up fresh.  Before the device would appear but not connect.  Now, not only does the device not connect, it won't even appear to the phone at all.  It's plugged in and charging, and is within inches of the phone.  Nothing.

On the Pixel 8 go to settings > Apps Fitbit App and clear cache. 
Turn your phone off/on again. 

Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
Connect your device to the charging cable. For instructions, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
Press and hold the buttons on your tracker for 10 seconds.
Release the buttons. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.

Try to setup the Inspire 2 as a new device .
