Hi All,

My fitbit2 got dead after a firmware upgrade a few weeks ago. There is no way to get it live again, to connect to it, ...

Battery charged

Can you provide advise how to overcome this and be able to re-use our fitbit again ?

thanks

Alex

Hi there, @Alexkie. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the issue with your Inspire 2.

As @SunsetRunner suggested, please try restarting your Fitbit device as instructed here How do I restart my Fitbit device?

If the restart doesn't work and your Fitbit device does not vibrate while performing the restart, I suggest trying the below steps:

  • Clean the charging contacts on the back of your device and the pins on your charging cable using the instructions in How do I clean my Fitbit device?
  • If the error "insufficient power source" appears on your device's screen, remove other devices plugged in to your power source, or plug your device in to another source.
  • Try a different USB port or a UL-certified wall charger.
  • Check the alignment and try reconnecting your device to the charging cable. For more information, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  • Restart your Fitbit once again. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?

If none of the above seems to work, I agree with @SunsetRunner, the best way to get help for this problem is to chat with us online or give us a call. Click here to get connected.

Nevertheless, if you manage to bring your Inspire 2 back to life, please make sure the update did take place. For more information, see How do I update my Fitbit device?

Hope that helps.

Hello @Alexkie

Is your Inspire 2 completely unresponsive? Will it turn on if you have it in the charger? Try restarting your Inspire 2 if your able to see if that helps: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1186.htm

If your Inspire 2 remains unresponsive I’d certainly contact a Fitbit Customer Service. Here are ways you can contact them:

USA: call (877) 623-4997
UK: call 0800 069 8505
INDIA: call 000 800 050 1057
IRELAND: call 01 691 7502 (country prefix: +353)

More information can be found here: https://myhelp.fitbit.com/s/support?language=en_US

i hope all that is needed is a simple restart but if not definitely contact Fitbit Customer Service.

I see there is a "best answer" chosen.  Did these suggestions actually fix the issue?  Did customer service help you?  I'm concerned about the fact that the OP has not replied since their first post.

I had to have my Inspire 2 replaced. None of the troubleshooting worked, it was completely bricked. Now I'm being bugged by the app to update the firmware on the brand new one. Nope.

Hello @RainArtChik

I understand your hesitation about the update on your Inspire 2. It’s a personal choice but it’s possible that the previous update you tried didn’t download correctly. Your perfectly fine to just wait a bit if you like but know that the Firmware update has bug fixes in them so some features you currently have may not function correctly.

The latest update for Inspire 2 says “This release includes bug fixes, improvements, and a critical security update” More information can be found here:https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1372.htm

Hello @Runner0621

I apologize for my late response. To answer your question…. it’s quite possible the original poster marked the response as best answer without any further dialog. It happens sometimes. But I can understand without actual confirmation by the original poster can leave things a bit confusing.

Are you still experiencing issues after trying the troubleshooting tips provided here? If so it certainly would be best to contact Fitbit Customer Service with the link (and telephone numbers) listed in my previous post.

Gosh darn it.  My Inspire 2 locked up when I updated it too and Fitbit just said "well, you're out of warranty so get a new one.". Yeah. They just bug all the Fitbits so you have to buy a new one.

My (original) charging cable doesn't have a button to press to restart the fitbit. 🤷‍:female_sign:

To restart an Inspire: connect to charger; press sides; hold till you see a smiley face. It should take about 10 seconds.
