Inspire 2 won't track flights of stairs

My husband and I have had our Inspire 2's for a month now.  We have stairs in our house that we each go up and down at least 10 times a day, often more.  We also live in an extremely hilly place so when we go for walks, we are going up and down hills.  Not once in the past month have our trackers logged any flights of stairs for either of us.  How can we fix that?

Inspire 2 does not track stairs climbed.  It does not have the required hardware altimeter, so could not be added even by firmware update.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
