I haven’t managed yet to obtain any sleep tracking data other than time asleep, restlessness etc. I’ve researched as much as I can and realise many have the same issue. Is there any definitive troubleshooting advice or must it be accepted the feature doesn’t work for everyone?

Hi everyone.
Nice to see you around the Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided and for the steps you've tried until now. I totally understand where your concern is coming from.
If you are not receiving sleep stages, I recommend considering the following:
Keep in mind that you must see sleep stages in order to see your sleep score information. Please swipe left on the Sleep Score graph, here you can see information about your weekly sleep average and sleep duration. To get more detailed information, see: What's sleep score in the Fitbit app?
We appreciate your help @Rich_Laue and @alexthecat.

After hours with advisers, I am told it is my problem as it is contended I must move too much whilst asleep. My wife’s says otherwise but Fitbit has now declared their watch works perfectly even if it has never given sleep tracking results for me. They suggest I get a refund, subject to the retailer’s returns policy. Thanks Fitbit.

When your wife wears it, she gets The advanced sleep, with a sleep score.
Have you checked a sleep in question to see what fitbit says? Look under the graph.

@AndrewRH usually, if you only get basic sleep details, the app will tell you why. See the part that I circled in red here.

Mine never worked when I tapped the 'begin sleep now' button, but worked perfectly when I did nothing. Hit nothing on the app or device, and simply went to sleep.

I had a couple days when it seemed like detailed sleep data was not being recorded (it wasn't showing up on my dashboard or app, anyway) and some days when my sleep record ended early. So I went in to my Dashboard and edited my sleep end time. (It will give you a warning that sleep data may be lost if you edit the start or end time, but mine wasn't.) I waited a bit, but saw no immediate change. Then I backed out by clicking on another screen, then went back to the Sleep Log page. The detailed data was there after that, and I was able to see the detailed stats and chart on my Sleep Log and through the app. Not saying it will definitely work for your situation, but it's worth a try.
You've probably already done this too, but if not, make sure that you have the sleep tracker set to "Sensitive" in your Settings.

Sorry, I thought this was generic but it says the tracker couldn’t get a consistent heart rate. I have still never tracked sleep stages, even thought I’ve now tried both hands ( with appropriate setting change). The inference is I have a problem for which I might choose to see a doctor, but I’m pretty fit for my age ( given daily exercise, including distance running), with no known heart issues.
In trying to interpret “snug fit” I’ve varied strap tightness too. Should I try changing the sensitivity setting, something I haven’t done yet? Or is there something else?
thanks again,
Andrew

Hi,
I did see some posts about this, but I have never used this setting. So thanks for the help but in this instance, the answer, if there is one. Still lies elsewhere.
Thanks

Same! I feel all your frustration. So much so that I ordered a Luxe this weekend to try a different model of Fitbit. The main thing I want is the sleep detail!

Hi,
I share the same frustration after another failure to track sleep stages maintaining the perfect zero record. The app on my Apple Watch says over 8 hours sleep. Fitbit, on the sensitive setting for the first time, says sleep 4h 12m, restless 4h 7m, but not awake once! Subjectively, the best night sleep of the last week. I sense the Fitbit will never work, but if anyone has any great ideas…….

In retaining a perfect score of never managing to obtain sleep stages today it appears there is nothing that will change this. If anyone else finds a solution to this problem I hope they can provide some enlightenment!

What excuse does fitbit give you @AndrewRH
I see people saying that they don't have a sleep score, however this thread is about not having sleep stages.
A user must have sleep stages before they will have a sleep score.
For sleep stages the user needs to be asleep 3 hours and have a fairly consistent heart reading.
No if the fitbit app does not give a reason for why seeing simple sleep, it usually means the HR is turned off
For those saying that they don't have a sleep score but do have sleep stages, you should posting in your own thread.

Hi, I’d love a new suggestion from Fitbit to try. I’ve tried everything to get detailed sleep stages in order to have scores every day. I got mine in Jan. I just calculated that in 120 days it only gave me detail and score 19% of the time. RIDICULOUS! Seriously? It’s supposed to be a feature and it seriously doesn’t work. And our thread author can’t get any info at all.
