My step count is not accurate. I have been using my phone because my step count on my Fitbit is a 1,000 to 1,500 lower then the phone count. The person I walk with also has the same step account as my phone. I need a solution

Hi there, @Stephbremer24. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the inconvenience with your Inspire 2.
As a first approach, I would like to clarify that it's normal that you see a difference when you are comparing your data with another person, this is because Fitbit devices record your data based on your personal information (age, gender, weight and height).
If you feel that your step count and distance are inaccurate, confirm the following are correct in the Fitbit app:
Since we use height to estimate your walking and running stride lengths, you may want to measure and manually adjust these values if your legs are longer or shorter than average. For more information, see How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity?
Sometimes, when you start walking, your steps may not update on your device right away. After about 10-15 continuous steps, you'll notice the steps catch up and start updating in real time with each step you take. For more information, see: How accurate are Fitbit devices?

My brand new Fitbit records approximately 400 calories every morning when I wake up and about the same number of steps before I even wake up. I have no activity during the night. Perhaps once a week I wake up to walk the 10
steps to the washroom. Gives me no confidence the steps are accurate during the day. I could manage with an in accurate calorie count (even though I’ve paid for that optionality). But I need the steps to be accurate. This is a new device. I have followed all the advice on this forum to no impact.
