My daughter has been bought an inspire HR FIT BIT for her birthday as she wanted all the things I have on my charge3 and not just steps and sleep which is provided on the Ace for kids, but Can I put her Fitbit on my account and her use hers at the same time as mine or do I have to set her up a completely different account as I don’t want her to receive the notifications from my phone etc I hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance x

Hi everyone. Welcome to the Community Forums. I'm sorry for the delayed response and thanks for the information that you've provided.
Let me explain that similar to many online services, our Terms of Service don't allow customers who are under the minimum age to create standard Fitbit accounts. The minimum age is 13 (customers in the EU may have different minimum age guidelines based on their country). To create an account for your child, please consider Fitbit Ace 2, which is designed for kids 6 and up, or Fitbit Ace, which is designed for kids 8 and up. These devices can be setup after creating a Family Account and parents will be able to manage their family account, invite family members, approve kids’ friends, and create child accounts.
I understand how you may be feeling about this situation, and be sure that your feedback won't go unnoticed. If you purchased your device from our Fitbit store and it's within 45 days, you can return it for a refund and wait until they're old enough to create a standard Fitbit account and get advantage of other features that other devices offer. If it was purchased from a retailer, you can ask them about their return policy.
If you have any other question, feel free to reply back.

The previous post by the "FitBit Moderator" is not entirely a correct statement. The FitBit TOS states:
"Persons under the age of 13, or any higher minimum age in the jurisdiction where that person resides, are not permitted to access or use the Fitbit Service unless their parent has consented in accordance with applicable law. Additionally, you cannot access or use the Fitbit Service if you are barred from receiving services under applicable law or have previously been suspended or removed from the Fitbit Service."
United States Federal Law, under COPPA (16 CFR Part 312), requires parental permission for children under the age of 13. If the parent/guardian chooses to allow their child to have an account, they can.
Therefore under FitBit's own TOS and in accordance with United States Federal Law, if a CONSENTING PARENT creates them an account, it is perfectly legal. It is FitBit's lack of COMMON SENSE that places extreme limited crap-trackers for "family" accounts.

None of these companies deal with this correctly, and they have no clue what kids want for products. Kids want to use the same thing we use, the ACE is ugly and my 9yo thinks it looks like something for a baby. So I do like I always do, buy the good product, set up an account for her and lie about her age. It’s going to be a pain in a few years when I have to fix all that... lol

I'm guessing based on all of the previous responses that this will fall on deaf ears as well. But just in case someone actually cares about customer satisfaction. I was planning to replace both of my kids Fitbit Ace trackers with new ones for Christmas this year only to find that my kids hate the Ace 2 because they look like "they are toys for babys". This answer from my kids, much like everyone else here led me to plan to purchase the inspire for them. As has been discussed this will not work out because for some reason the brilliant Execs at Fitbit find it necessary to limit the hardware I can choose to provide my child. I cannot think of any technical limitation preventing the use of any piece of Fitbit hardware under a child account. You are simply losing sales and alienating customers. The only reason I got a Fitbit for myself was so that my children could compete with me. Now instead of buying three new inspires for myself and my children I will have to look for another alternative. This is very very disappointing to say the least.

mistercpe, you can use any Inspire band with the Ace2.
I can't speak to the limitations of what laws Fitbit needs to abide by across the world regarding children accounts, but this sounds like an easy fix for you. Purchase the Ace2, and grab a couple bands for your kids.

Can you tell me. Does the inspire fit your son's wrist? I just ordered my 11 year old one for Christmas and my charge 3 is a little too big for his wrist so I'm now left wondering if the inspire is going to fit him and if not can I purchase a smaller strap? He didn't want the Ace 2 cause of it being babyish

It's all about the money. I ordered the Inspire for my almost 11 yr old son be and if I have to lie about his age to set it up, so be it.

I had a similar question...
If I get the Inspire HR for my 8 yr old, can't I just make her an account and say she is 13? Would I be able to add her account to my app and toggle between the two accounts?

I don't think you do understand and I think you roll your eyes about our feedback before tossing it in the trash. As others have said, we bought the inspire because the ace lacks features and looks cartoonist. Then we try to set it up on their birthday or Christmas Eve only to find out that we can't. You don't have to deal with the crying child, we do. Why, as a childs parent, can't we buy something that isn't cartoonist and tracks heart rate for a child?

I gave up on Fitbit. For myself and my kid. I went with a smart watch activity tracker from Spade and Co.. Absolutely NO issues at all. It doesn't log driving as steps. Stays connected. And it cost less. Best move I made.
I switched to Spade and Co. They have a nice smart watch activity tracker that is cheaper and works better. App is Very Fit Pro.

This is mad - fitbit expect my 8 year old to have a phone (which he doesn't) yet won't let me set him up with a child account!
He's too old for the ACE but I don't think he is old enough to be responsible for his online behaviour.
Bonkers

Hi,
I think everyone gets that the law requires an adult to create an account for their kids. No problem.....
But, why is the family account limited to the ACE???? The Ace looks like something bought from a gum ball machine, that they will not wear.
Guess my choice is to make my kid cry because Santa bought something she can't use or create a fake account....and not buying fitbit products again.
