Hello, I've happily used my Fitbit for a couple of years now. Recently, when recording a walk, it has started adding paths I hadn't walked to the ones I had actually walked. In the middle of my walks. How can I prevent this to happen again?

When was the first time you experienced this issue and how many times since then? In the meantime I receive your answers, please restart your Inspire HR and try the following steps to troubleshoot the Fitbit app:

Hello Ricardo,
I didn't really make a note of it the first time, but it seriously happened on December 28, when I walked a straight line mainly on Bd Leopold III towards the Ava shop in Evere and back (4.4 km as I have done it again afterwards) and my Fitbit additionally registered a strange arrow a long way into the Avenue du Bourget, where I didn't set a foot, for a total of 7+km.
And again yesterday, I walked down St Stevens Woluwe through the bd de la Woluwe to the farm in Kraainem, and back for a total of 4.3 km as I have done before, is confirmed by google maps and as registered before by my Fitbit. And strangely this time my Fitbit registered a long distance into the chaussée de Louvain and back, for a total of 10+km.
As those are huge differences, I've deleted the tracked journey and replaced it with a "log previous".
I've been fearing someone else was interfering with my Samsung smartphone or Fitbit. But I have the necessary firewalls and manually activated the protections. My phone's version is automatically updated, and was a few days ago.
I'll reboot it as you recommend and hope everything will be ok.
Another strange phenomenon was when I walked in the Forêt de Soignes & Bois de la Cambre with a friend who has an Apple watch on January 1. For exactly the same walk, his watch said 11,98 km and my Fitbit 14,25 km.
I had the same a few times with my daughter's Iphone records - but not a watch, so I concluded that hers was less accurate.
I bought my Fitbit on May 9, 2019 and have used it only from time to time as my skin reacts to the strap. I have used it almost everyday for my walks since October 29 when the gym was stopped because of the Covid-19.
If there is anything else you can do, please do!
Thanks in advance,
Kind regards
Anne
