Inspire HR GPS tracking is erratic when running

There seem to be many similar topics to this so there is clearly a general problem with GPS Tracking that needs addressing. I do the exact same run every other day and it is logged at anything between 2.4 and 2.9 miles. Obviously this makes a complete nonsense of the split times. I wait for the HR to connect to GPS before starting the run because otherwise I found that it would only plot a handful of points. Also I make sure that the phone is the right way up in my shorts pocket because otherwise the GPS trace has lots of backtracks where I seem to retrace my steps for about 50 meters and then forwards again. My phone is an own brand Vodafone running a fairly recent version of Android.

There is also a problem with the Fitbit app on the phone. When looking at the Exercise details, on the Map tab the Pace calculations are completely fictitious. For instance for an average pace of 9'23" it shows a low pace of 159'232 and a high pace of 12'01". The Map Default tab only shows the run time to the nearest minute which is less than helpful.

Why is there no way to correct some of the data such as the mileage so that the stats are recalculated?

@Andrew_HH Welcome to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here!

Let me help you with your GPS data and thank you for sharing these details. I suggest you try logging out from the app, restart your phone and log back in. Also try the following:

  1. Go to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there.
  2. Restart your phone and restart your device
  3. Check that no battery saving app/feature on your phone is affecting your Fitbit app.
  4. Also, on an Android device, check that your app has the necessary permissions (settings > apps > Fitbit > permissions) and make sure bluetooth and location services (GPS) are on.
  5. You can find troubleshooting instructions here.

Regarding the ability of editing a GPS activity, currently this isn't available but you can share your idea in our Feature Suggestions board. Search for the idea first to see if one already exists so you can add your vote. The more votes an idea gets the more likely the developers will try to implement it.

Let me know how it goes.
