Inspire HR Screen Black and Unresponsive

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Yesterday my Inspire HR started buzzing randomly and then started scrolling through the menu without being touched and then went black. I've tried charging it and restarting it both on a charger plugged into a wall and one plugged into a computer. There is no response. I ran it across the charger touchpoints and a couple of times it would barely start to show something on the screen and then go back to black. It has been black since then for most of the day today. The app can't get a connection with it either.

Oh dear, @AlliCart , that doesn’t sound good!  It might help to give the charging contacts a clean.  Here are the instructions:

  • Clean the charging contacts on the back of your device to ensure they stay bronze or gold in color:
    1. Use a toothbrush with rubbing alcohol. Dry with a cloth or tissue before charging.
    2. Make sure not to scrape the contacts with anything metal, since metal can damage the plating and cause corrosion.
  • Clean the pins on your charging cable:
    1. Clean the pins carefully with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol.
    2. Make sure that no pieces of the swab are left behind.

Once you have given them a good clean, try plugging in again using a wall socket.  Give the Fitbit a good two hours charge, even if it does not seem to be responding.

Once it has had two hours charge, try the restart procedure again, only this time instead of holding the button for 5 seconds as usually recommended, try the long button hold - up to 20-30 seconds.  Make sure the Fitbit stays attached to the charger the entire time you are holding the button.

With luck, that will bring your Fitbit back to life.  If not, it is time to get in touch with Customer Support on Contact,fitbit.com .  Be sure to tell them the troubleshooting procedures you have already tried, as that will save time.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.  Welcome to the forums!
