Inspire HR: Step accuracy

Hello,

I am using my Inspire HR only a few days, but find that the step count is way off. Only today I put the Inspire to charge and already the count show 1.662 steps. (1.32KM) We do not have a small house, but to walk that many steps will not happen. This was my confirmation of suspecting the same during the past few days. Since I used the Inspire, it gives me consistent way more steps, and distance, than I actually did. Is there any way to fix this?

Thanks.

I logged 230 steps  brushing my teeth today.  I just tried restarting mine. If this doesn't work, then I'll  send it back.

My fitbit inspire HR seems to be wildly inaccurate in counting my steps, additionally I used the exercise feature on a recent bike trip and it said I biked 324 feet , however the map on the fitbit map showed I biked over 3 miles. These instances call into question any other stats the device may tally.

I feel for you. I had enough & returned mine last week. Now I just have to
chose either a different Fitbit or a Garmin. Good luck.

Received my fitbit inspire hr yesterday, charged and put on this AM and logged about 800 steps within the first hour without leaving my house. I just received a congratulations for obtaining my 1st 10k steps. Im really disappointed since I bought it to track my activity and it doesn't work ☹️

I switched to a Garmin Vivosmart 4 and I really like it. I don't have much confidence in Fitbit anymore.

No it doesn't so return it immediately, get your money back and switch to something that is reliable. I switched to the Garmin Vivosmart 4 and I really like it.

I'll have to look into that one. I've heard good things about Garmin.

In the 5 days I've had my Inspire HR I've gotten an accurate step count twice. But my problem isn't over counting. My problem is my Fitbit seriously under counts. After 55 minutes on a treadmill at speed level 3, my Fitbit logged 1,265 steps. My phone app showed 4 times that count. Room's step count matched the phone app.

I bought the Fitbit for convenience. It's anything but. A request for a fix resulted in an email with a link to FAQs. Really? None of those addressed my problem.

Ive had mine a while now but only use it for heart monitoring on workouts and alarms if I haven’t moved for a while. It is roughly 20% over most of the time. It is however reasonably accurate for a long walk when it trips into active mode. As a step counter it is useless. I would NEVER recommend it to anyone, in fact I would actively discourage anyone from buying it. Possibly the worst product I have ever bought. The calorie counter is like something from a fantasy film as well.

I sent mine back & got a Garmin instead. I've had no problems with the
Garmin.

I got it to work properly by entering my treadmill data. Apparently, if you
don't move your arms, it doesn't count. My sister has an older Fitbit and
hers works properly.

I turned off the calorie counter. Apparently, I'm wasting away.

I have had this Inspire HR for 3 days so far. I haven't noticed all these problem with the step counter like you guys have. I have kept my phone's step counter on and in my pocket all day for 2 of the 3 days so I can see if they are simular. Both had almost the same number, but the fitbit had about 300 extra steps for the entire day. I even checked my steps after sitting here reading all these comments and seen it had zero additional steps. I have to start swinging my arms to get the step tracker going again. I'm not sure how you can get 3x more steps unless you move your arm all day long (that's easy to do and not think about).

You are very fortunate and I wish you
continued success with your device.
Those of us who purchased the INSPIRE
in 2019 and installed subsequent
updates - if there were any- have not been as fortunate as you. We all found hundreds if not 1000’s of steps added daily even while sleeping. Believe me when I say we tried everything suggested and begged and pleaded for this problem
to be resolved but to no avail.

I have yet to see anything come from the makers of Fitbit that even adequately addresses this issue let alone solves it.

Can you tell us the version INSPIRE HR and software you are using? Perhaps it is
a hardware issue that has fixed it. I am curious if anything has changed! If it is a hardware change I would hope they would offer a free replacement for all of us who have suffered through this defect.

Thank you for commenting and again, I wish you continued success with your device.

Firmware Version 34.20001.63.18

Its been more days now and I haven't had any crazy steps added. I have been pretty lazy this past week at home all day, everyday. The couple days I felt sick and barely moved, the watch kept saying I was sleeping. But that's about it. I think those days it claimed I walked about 900 steps total each day! So maybe they finally fixed things by the time I started to use this one.
