Inspire HR and GPS

Hi

I've had my Inspire HR since Sept 2020 and not had many problems with it - the odd sync problem, but nothing too bad.

I've recently noticed that part way round my run, it'll lose connection with my phone's GPS and end the run, which is a bit frustrating esp as I'm building up to a 10k.

The connection at the start is fine, ie it connects to my iPhone's GPS and is fine through most of the run.  There are no tall buildings around to block the GPS signal and we're not in the middle of the countryside. We've walked the route and the GPS on the phone is fine.

Any thoughts as to what could be causing the problem?

Many thanks.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @sampsonkieran. I'm sorry to hear you lose your phone's GPS connection at the end of your run. Thank you for letting me know that there are no tall buildings around to block the GPS signal and that you're not in the middle of the countryside.

All devices with GPS sensors require a direct path to GPS satellites to calculate location. A weak GPS signal might affect the accuracy of your route and other activity data. Your device uses your step count to calculate distance until it finds a signal, so the total distance calculated for a workout may be slightly less accurate when GPS isn't available for the entire time.

Did this happen before of with your runs or it's recent? Please check help article: How do I use GPS on my Fitbit device?

Hi @AndreaFitbit

Thanks for the response. It’s a recent thing and has only happened a couple of times. The Fitbit is close to my phone when I’m running and it’s not as if we live in a built up area (ie, there aren’t any high rise apartments or offices to block the signal) or out in the countryside.

When walking or driving around the iPhone doesn’t lose its GPS signal. Not sure if that helps at all

kind regards

Kieran

Thanks for getting back to us and for the clarification @sampsonkieran

Since this has happened a couple of times it could have been a connection loss (sometimes it happens, with almost everything). I would recommend restarting your tracker and  checking if this situation persists.

Thank you for being part of our community.
