Inspire HR and calories in vs out inquiry

Look, I’m get that I’m pretty active in a relaxed sort of way. I’m 5’ 6” and 145lbs. Yes I doubled checked my profile. Using the Inspire HR for about a week now.

I take 12,000 steps just at work, easily (when I forget my Bluetooth headset I get really bored and count between each job) and my fitbit’s step counting is accurate for me. I’m doing light(ish) manual labor in a factory. I’m moving my whole body but it’s not like I’m breaking a sweat except on rare occasion. 20 minute weight lifting daily but I’m not killing myself with it. I save sweating for cardio when I work out at they gym 3+ times a week.

And yet on a normal no-gym day it’s saying I burn 3000 calories. Every calculator for calories burned and bmr I have found puts my daily burn at about 2200 calories so I’m a little put off over being told I need to eat 2600 calories for weight loss.

I get that heart rate is being considered and my heart readings are at least as accurate as the cardio machines at the gym but the calorie burn rate on the Fitbit is greater. It’s burn rate when I’m sedentary is accurate to my BMR. The issue is only when I’m up and moving.

SO, is my Fitbit just extra accurate and I’m severely under eating, or should I keep up my 15-1700 calorie intake and pay less attention to the Fitbit calories? I want to make sure I’m giving my body enough food for the gym while still getting my weight loss goal.

Hey there, @Frowntown! Welcome to the Family!

Thanks for sharing all those details about the different workouts and exercises you're performing with your Inspire HR. One of the first things that we need to check is the activities that you're doing. In order to do so I will suggest using the Fitbit.com Dashboard on a computer to have a better view of your activities and calories burned.

Once you're logged in into your Fitbit Account > click on Log > Activity > Choose the date (you will have the Steps and Calories Burned view too). See attached picture as an example:

Active Minutes from 27th.png

As you can see the graphic will show the time line of your steps/calories throughout the day. Below that graphic you will see the Activity History, so you can check your daily activities. It gives date, name of activity, steps given, distance, duration, calories and if you click on the View Details option; you will get more information for examples your maps from your Runs.

Please note that your active minutes will be taken from your high intensity level exercises and they are represented as yellow lines on the calories burned option, green lines are the moderate level. For more information about Active Minutes check this post.

Please note that you will see the option "Calories burned" in that graphic, so you can check the calories throughout the day. About your food plan after you've entered your food data, all the information that you have in the past will be changed depending on the weight goal and the plan intensity that you've chosen; since the daily calorie deficit will be different everyday. Why don't you take a look of this master post that has all the details on how the food plan works.

Once you have checked that information, please let me know if you have doubts about.
