I want to raise my voice about the inspire HR measuring distance when not doing a walk/run, but something more like bike riding or stationary bike riding or treadmill. If you're not a steady person and have to hold onto something to steady your balance the HR doesn't measure correctly.
I did a 10 mile 1 hour bike ride where I did an average of 10.9 mph and reached a maximum speed of 18.5 mph. at the end of that ride HR showed only .28 miles. It showed 48 minutes of exercise time. I was a math major and I've been a developer for 40 years, the algorithm needs work in my opinion. Since you can track GPS and can know speed, you should be able to do a better calculation of 'steps' and distance. PLEASE!

It's great to see you around, @mseedii.
Fitbit devices calculate distance based on the device’s accelerometer data and stride length setting.
Default stride length is based on your height and gender. If available, Fitbit devices use GPS data to calculate more precise distances. When you sync your device, our algorithm interprets the data from the device, and you see your distance traveled in the Fitbit app.
Note that when you track an exercise with GPS, both GPS and accelerometer data are used to calculate the distance shown in the Fitbit app. For more information about accuracy, check the article: How accurate are Fitbit devices?.
Let me know the outcome.
