Inspire HR doesn't track sleep stages

My new Fitbit HR hasn't tracked sleep stages since I got it over a week ago. I wear it on the non-dominant hand, with the tracker placed on the inside wrist.

I used to use Fitbit Charge 2 earlier and that device tracked my sleep stages perfectly well till the battery got weaker. It was three years old and the battery life was very short and hence I replaced it with Inspire HR. I had synced both devices in the app earlier.  I have unsynched Fitbit Charge 2 now. Yet, no sleep stages.

In some posts I read on the community, there was a mention of turning off the heart rate monitor on the device and then 'soft resetting ' it before turning on the heart rate again. Some posts also mention changing sleep settings on the online dashboard from 'normal' to 'sensitive '

What is a 'soft reset' and how can I do it?

How do I access my online dashboard? There is nothing in the app that connects me to the online dashboard. I am based in India. My earlier Fitbit Charge 2 was bought in Australia and the recent Fitbit Inspire HR was bought in India. Does that matter?

A warm welcome to the Community, @RupaShah.

Thanks for troubleshooting this sleep stages issue. There are a few scenarios where you might see your sleep pattern (which shows your time asleep, restless, and awake) instead of sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

Let me know the outcome. 😊

Thanks for the reply. I have already tried all this. Have varied the way I wear the tracker and have tried sleeping in one position only - on my back for a few nights. And I never nap. All sleep durations have been over 7 hours.

I am having exactly the same problem and getting no where with the Fitbit support. They keep making suggestions I have already tried.

Mine occasionally does track sleep stages. I have found that restarting the device at the time of charging does help. However, even with this, I haven’t succeeded in getting the device to track sleep stages regularly. It does so for about a week or less.
