Sitting on a plane and looked at my fitbit and saw it claimed a pulse of nearly 200 (it wasn't). Took it off, still read a high pulse in the air. Nearly eight hours later it is still reading substantially higher than it should. It has totally messed up my resting rate and makes me question the accuracy of the device at all (I already knew the miles counter was significantly off),

@drjtprice Welcome to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here!
Let me help you with your heart rate reading on your Inspire HR. I suggest you clean the back of your device with cotton and rubbing alcohol and restart it. Turn the heart rate off, save and sync then turn it on save and sync again. Also check these tips to improve the heart rate reading on your device.
Regarding the distance calculation, your device uses the number of steps and stride length to calculate the distance. You can improve the accuracy by measuring and logging your stride length. Feel free to use these instructions to do this.
Let me know how it goes.
