Inspire HR inaccurate sleep tracking

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've had my Inspire HR for nearly a year. My sleep settings are "normal", app is on iPhone 7, and I use fitbit.com on my Windows PC. I've suspected for some time that the HR isn't tracking sleep accurately but was finally able to see proof today. The tracking shows that I woke up at 9:00 a.m. but continues to track for another 37 min., showing as "awake." Yes, I WAS awake! Up, moving around, texting, feeding my cats, making coffee, etc. Those 37 minutes should not be included in my sleep stats.

This is important to me because I generally am a somewhat restless sleeper & have been trying to regulate my sleep schedule to be sure I get enough sleep. If the HR keeps tracking sleep after I'm up & moving around, how can I trust that the "awake" times during the night are accurate? In addition, somewhere in the FAQS re "normal" vs "sensitive" setting, it says HR tracks rolling over as "awake". That's simply NUTS! Rolling over is normal sleeping! As far as I'm concerned, the sleep tracking function is no better than not tracking at all.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @magnoliajem.

Thanks for the details shared in your post. I understand how you are feeling about this situation and appreciate your feedback. Our team is always working on our products and services, and your comments are always welcome. I recommend doing the following:

  1. Please confirm that your sleep settings are normal and not sensitive: What is the difference between the normal and sensitive sleep setting in the Fitbit app?
  2. Restart your device by following the steps from this help article: How do I restart my Fitbit device?
  3. Try sleeping with the device on your non-dominant hand if you haven't been doing it already.
  4. Confirm that the tracker is snug on your wrist.

It is possible to correct the sleep record from your dashboard by following the steps from this help article: How do I edit, or delete sleep logs in the Fitbit app?

You can find more information about tracking sleep in How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device? Additionally, I recommend checking if your Fitbit app is updated to the latest version as updates come with new features and bug fixes: How do I update the Fitbit app?

 Hope this helps.

This did not help at all. I already had #1-4 covered before writing my comment in the first place. I know how to edit sleep logs in the app; I didn't want to do that because I'd lose whatever portion of that day's log that was correct/accurate. The only thing that wasn't correct was that it continued to track sleep cycle, even though it was showing me (accurately) as awake. That time should not have been included in the sleep log.
