Inspire HR is adding in a second sleep in the day when I'm awake

I purchased the Inspire HR 4 days ago. Overall it is working fine and at night seems to be tracking my sleep well with the stages. However I have noticed that 3 of those days when I synced with my app that it has added in a period of time that I was asleep in the day. I am fairly sedentary at work as I sit at a desk but I have been specifically trying to hit my 250 an hour as much as possible, and yet it says I was asleep during long periods of the day??

I thought maybe it was due to charging as some of the time it said I was asleep was when charging it, but I didn't charge at all on the Friday and it still did it.

Congratulations on your new Inspire HR, I'll be glad to give you a hand with the issues with sleep tracking. Thanks for letting me know that you're trying your best to hit your 250 per hour.

When your body is completely at rest and unmoving, your Fitbit device records that you are asleep. Autodetection is based on your movement. When you haven’t moved for about an hour, your device assumes that you’re asleep. Additional data such as the length of time your movements are indicative of sleep behavior (such as rolling over) help confirm that you’re asleep.

If you’re not moving but not asleep for long periods of time it’s possible for your device to falsely record sleep, in which case you can delete the sleep log from your history.

For wrist-based devices, it's important to specify whether you wear the device on your dominant or non-dominant wrist:

  • The dominant wrist setting decreases the sensitivity of step counting and should reduce any over counting of steps when your body is not moving. Your dominant hand is the one you use for writing and eating.
  • The non-dominant wrist setting increases the sensitivity of step counting and should reduce any under counting of steps.

What option are you using? Change your wrist setting in the Fitbit app > Account > Wrist Placement.

Let me know if this information helped you, I'll be around.

Hi,

The information about being able to delete the log is helpful thank you, I have now deleted the incorrect logs.

I am using my dominant hand. This is my second fitbit (used the Flex 2 for about a year and a half) so I was already aware that I have to specify which hand I am using and have done so in the app.

Hi @Zo_Neo thanks for getting back. I'm glad to see that you found helpful the information on how to delete logs.

As you have already checked the handedness information on your profile then I would suggest to perform a restart on your Fitbit Inspire HR with these instructions:

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Hold the other end of the charging cable near the port on the back of the tracker until it attaches magnetically. The pins on the charging cable must connect securely with the port.
  3. Press and hold the button on your tracker for 5 seconds.
  4. Release the button. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.

Then you can give it a try to see how it works.

I'll be around.
