I read all of the post that say to scroll to the exercise face on my fitbit and to then tap it to select the exercise I want to manually start. My fitbit say 0 out of 5, even though I have picked the ones I want in the app and recently synced it. When I tap the screen nothing happens. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong.

If the 0 of 5 is on the app, not on the fitbit as you said, you are probably referring to 0 days of exercise this week out of a goal of 5 days. That is for what you have done for exercise, totally different from choosing what the exercise app options are.
You say noting happens when you tap the screen. I would need more information about exactly where and when you mean tapping the screen, and if you mean tracker or app screen.

The things I've read say scroll on your fitbit to the exercise screen. To my understanding, that's the stick figure that looks like its running. It then says you can tap on the screen of the fitbit to select the exercise you want to start manually tracking. Nothing happens when I tap on the screen. I've double tapped, held down, I don't know what to do.

When you get to the screen with the stick figure that says "Exercise" under it, if you tap on that, you should get different animated figures by scrolling up or down for different exercise types. If not, I don't know why not.

It doesn't say exercise under it...it says 0 out of 5. Do you think that has any thing to do with it?

I wonder if you are looking at the hours with 250+ steps. That is when you scroll down (swipe up) from clock face. If this is the case, it means that you have selected to have the 250 step measurement apply to 5 consecutive hours, but you have not yet reached 250 steps in any of those hours.
For more about this, see:
What's my Fitbit hourly activity goal?
The exercise screen is in the other direction, reached by scrolling up (swiping down) from the clock face.

Help! I cannot get my wrist watch to respond. I have sync it, tapped it, but it goes black and displays nothing. What can I do to get it started, this is already a replacement unit for a previous one that responded the same. I am certain that I have failed to do something to set it up, but what? It is getting near to being totally rejected, if I cannot get this to work.
