Inspire HR - no "on clip" mode?

Re-posting since the forum flagged my original message as spam... Smiley Frustrated

I'm a recovering One user (mine recently bit the dust after several years, and I had an Alta for all of two months before I lost it Smiley Mad) and was thrilled to see the Inspire can be worn on a clip. I'm aware that the Inspire HR is not designed to be worn on a clip - OEM or aftermarket - but until recently, it shared the same software as the regular Inspire and you could set it to "Clip On." However, apparently FitBit updated the software so the HR no longer has this option.

I'm a biker and would like to have the HR functionality so I can wear it on my wrist, but I'm worried about its step accuracy if I chose to wear it on a clip if it no longer has the "Clip On" tracking mode. 90% of the time, I'd be wearing it on a clip as I walk/hike much more than I bike. 🙂

If anyone has used the HR pre-and-post "Clip On" software update and noticed a difference in step counting when used on a clip, please let me know. Smiley Happy If push comes to shove, I'll just get the regular Inspire, but I'll still be a little bummed as they don't have the white or lilac option for that model. Smiley LOL

Thanks all!

@outatime, a warm welcome to our Community!

Thank you for your feedback. I want to clarify that the software wasn't updated, the "on clip" is specifically for the Inspire device only, if you ever saw this option on the Inspire HR then most likely it was a bug that got corrected. The idea behind this is that the Inspire HR does have a heart rate sensor so it would go to waste if you use it as a clip, this is why the normal Inspire exist and if you check the accessories only the Inspire has the belt clip designed for it (the Inspire HR is a little bit thicker due to its HR sensor). Still if you wish you can share your suggestion in our Feature suggestions board. Search for the idea first to see if one already exist so you can add your vote. The more votes an idea gets the more likely the developers will try to implement it.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks! Clip compatability aside, does the clip mode on the regular Inspire use a significantly different algorithm to track steps than the Inspire HR? Only asking bc I used my Alta in a 3rd party clip on my hip and it was reasonably accurate despite it not being designed to be worn on the hip. Thanks!

Not replying...  just adding my comments.  I have been a Fitbit user for 7 years - too many models to list here - but I now have the Inspire HR.  I purchased a clip and plan to wear my Inspire HR on a belt or pocket.  It would great to see a modification to the Inspire HR dashboard software so that I can select "clip."  Currently my choice is "Wrist; either Dominant or Non-Dominant."
