Inspire HR not auto recognising today's walks

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Been for 2 walks today and neither have been recognised on the watch itself. It's still showing 4 of 5 days progress despite me going for a walk each day Monday to Friday this week. I've tried the 5 second reboot and got the smiley face but my watch didn't vibrate. My steps and my active minutes are accurate but no walks recorded.

I agree, very frustrating. These problems always seem to occur when the watch is out of warranty too.

Hope you get sorted. Let me know if you do.

Its not looking good at the moment. They’ve had me try a bunch of stuff without any success

Update - they want to wait to see if it records my “next” activity.  Apparently they cannot recover today’s exercise log but they’ve had me do all the troubleshooting steps so they say “this issue should be solve”.

Fingers crossed for you Jam2257. I tested to see if my reboot worked with the second walk but no!

I went onto a chat, they told me to use the exercise tracking on the Fitbit rather than auto recognize. If you don’t go for 10 minutes the tracker will not auto recognize, apparently. No troubleshooting.

Thanks for the info. I already use the exercise tracking and have it set to 10 minutes so that wasn’t what was happening for me. I jumped on the elliptical and did 10 mins and it seems to be tracking again but, unfortunately, I’ve lost all the data from my earlier exercising today.

Im having the same problem. I updated the app. I did everything on their help page but it’s still not auto recognizing my aerobic workout. And when I manually log in, it’s showing inaccurate stats even though it’s the same exercise I always do.

im getting really frustrated

When I contacted fitbit via the online help chat they had me do a bunch of stuff and that seems to have fixed the problem for the time being (fingers crossed). Unfortunately I can’t recover any of my exercise info from yesterday but I’ve walked and done the elliptical so far today and it has captured both exercises.

I wish I could remember everything they had me do bc I’d share it with you.

Just wanted to let you know that after all the troubleshooting with Fitbit help it seems to have worked. My exercise info is being captured.

@Jam2257 glad to hear it. Weirdly, I just opened the app on my phone and yesterday's and today's walks have appeared and my watch now says I've done 6/5 days of exercise.

Well, I thought it was fixed but no record of my walks today, all of which were over half an hour.

Still working for me but I’m having trouble trusting that the issue is resolved. Lol

Hello everyone.

Sorry to hear about this. Your device detects activities based on the motion on your arm. The automatic detection is a feature called SmartTrack and it requires constant movement for usually at least 10 minutes to detect an activity(you can change this but 10 minutes is the minimum required). For example when using the elliptical machine make sure you have the moving bars so your device detects the motion and records the activity itself, once an Elliptical activity is saved on your account it should show on the Recent Exercise area. If your heart rate is high but there isn't much motion (yoga, weight lifting, etc.) then these activities will be difficult to be detected by your device. Still you can manually log your activity so you have a record on your account or use the activity mode on the device itself.

So sad so many users is having the exact same issue without no resolution.  I've had a FitBit for 5 years now and a selling point was the auto detect feature not to manually enter my workout and double the steps when that's not the case.  So frustrating that such a large company don't have the common sense to identify known issues and correct the problem.  This will definitely be my last FitBit device I purchase.   Brought my Mom an Inspire and her tracker won't stay charged for 2 days.  Makes you wonder if there is a system wide bug with the Inspire collection?? May need to start from scratch and complete a complete product overhaul to improve overall performance.
