Inspire HR not holding charge

All of a sudden my Inspire HR will not hold its charge for more than 3 hours. It’s 19 months old. Anyone have theirs for longer and it’s still holding its charge?

Same thing just started with mine after days ago. Cleaned, reconnected to app and turned off notifications and still the same.

Hello, welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @Maggie1971 @Abolwerk

Thank you for sharing all this information about the problem you've been experiencing with your Inspire HR device.

The battery can last up to 5 days; because battery life is affected by use and other settings, actual results may vary. Before considering other options, please make sure that you've followed the steps provided in this article

In addition, if you continue to experience the same inconvenience, try to perform a restart following the steps listed here, this has been useful for other users experiencing the same difficulty.

@Maggie1971 I was also informed that you already contacted the Customer Support team for further assistance, you should be getting a reply soon as well.

Hope this helps, I'll be around.

Thank you for the suggestions!

Actually, I had tried all of the troubleshooting actions prior to contacting Customer Support. None of the suggested actions helped. My Inspire HR will only hold a charge for a maximum of 3 hours.

It is my opinion that my Inspire HR should be replaced rather than the offer of a 35% discount. It is only 19 months old so I would hope that it should last longer than that.

I was not given any reason as to why this happened all of a sudden so I’m not sure purchasing another Inspire 2 HR is the best idea.

I’d appreciate your thoughts on the cause of my poorly performing battery.

@Maggie1971 Thank you for your reply and confirming that you already tried all the troubleshooting steps mentioned earlier.

It is particularly difficult when the device is no longer covered by the warranty, but even tough Support is eager to help with any problem you may experience with the product, they do need to adhere to the official warranty policy, this would start counting from the original date of purchase.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding the quality; comments from users are always useful to continue to improving the quality of products and services.

Have a great day.

Mine was holding a charge and then that all changed and was having the same problems as you. I tried everything. Then I reset it to factory and it has been fine since.

I’ve been having the same issue for a couple weeks. Took my Fitbit off the charger last night and 100% put it on and went to bed and got up this morning it’s at 65%. Pretty sure I was not that active in bed alone when until recently the battery would last well over a weekday

Mine was the same as yours, not holding charges and needed to be recharged every 3-4 hours. I ordered a brand new one and in the interim kept charging my old Fitbit until the new one came. But after about 5 days of constant recharging, the old Fitbit came back to life, for some reason, it's now able to hold the charge like it used to when I first got it. Don't know the reason for it, but I'm not complaining. So if anyone of you has one that does not hold a charge, do not discard it, just keep recharging it and hopefully like mine, it will fix itself. Well, my new Inspire HR arrived, but instead of sending it back I'm keeping it just in case.

After cleaning my charging post and Fitbit with rubbing alcohol, the charger worked a lot better and starting charging my Fitbit a lot faster. For a while anyway, my Fitbit Inspire HR was holding a charge for much longer than it was but after a couple of days, it completely died and could no longer be charged or function. I ended buying a new one and I just have to say I should have done that sooner. You can get them at a really bargain basement price for a brand new one at ebay and would have saved me all this aggravation in trying to revive my dead Fitbit. So I guess 2 1/2 years is, in my experience, the lifespan of a Fitbit Inspire HR.

@HawaiiMEL808 Thank you for sharing this update and your feedback about the product.

I'm sorry to see that it wasn't possible to resolve the problem with the old device, but it's good to know that you have a new Fitbit and it's working properly.

Have a great day.

My InspireHR is 13 months old and was working great until July 9 2021. A full charge would only last

about an hour. Previously it held a charge for 7 to 8 days. I kept charging it over and over daily (3 weeks) and now a charge lasts approx. 20 hours. Still not enough for practical use. Also the heart rate (bpm) quit all together and the sleep tracker records the hours of sleep but shows no detail. The time was slow by 3 hours one day then corrected itself.

As some others have suggested, I wonder if there was some sort of update or glitch in the system in early July. Going by the posts on this blog and others, there seems to be a lot of people with similar problems at the same time. I am currently trying the cleaning and restarting as suggested but have little hope of success.

There are just far too many Fitbit Inspire HR users who are all having the same problem! Obviously, there is a defect of some kind but Fitbit refuses to compensate users for this faulty tracker. Prospective Fitbit purchasers, be warned!!

If you please, keep us informed as to how long your Fitbit Inspire HR is working better. Many of us would like to know and if it really is working better, just what did their support recommend that you do to make it work better. That info would be invaluable to all of us who are experiencing this problem.

Hi! I've been having this problem now for a month or so. I've posted on the community forums with no help from Fitbit (other than the same "cut and paste" response). I finally did the live chat today and was basically told, too bad, it's out of warranty. Here's some new products you could buy. They then referred me to read the warranty policy. I truly believe this is due to an update to the Fitbit Inspire HR (as it was working perfectly, then suddenly couldn't hold a charge for a full 24 hours). I am very disappointed in Fitbit as I've had 2 different Fitbits over the last 5 years (I lost my old one swimming last week when the band broke, which I was wearing while the HR wasn't working), and have recommended the products to many friends and family over the years. This has been very disappointing. Just want to let people know that If your Fitbit is over 1 year old, Fitbit won't help.
