I have been using my Fitbit since I got it for Christmas. I mainly got it to increase NEAT, but I thought it would help me better understand my swim routine. I swim 3 days a week and use the same routine (it is to support various things, not specifically to improve my swimming). The first day, when I checked the HR, I saw that it was weirdly low and realized the strap was not on tightly enough.
Now, I have the strap on correctly and I check my heartrate to see if I am getting as high as I think I am after sprints. I am consistently in the mid-140s when I do my hardest sprints, according to the Fitbit. This honestly seems low, but I'm satisfied that it's close enough. However, when I later look at the HR record, it shows my max HR below 140.
Why would there be a difference between what the Fitbit is showing me at the time and what I see later? This seems to be a different problem than other people are reporting.
Also, why does the swim not record HR, which would be way better than the incorrect information it's currently giving me? This swim function is only annoying and not helpful. It never once gets the number of lengths correct, possibly because I do dolphin kicks and a number of different kicking exercises on my back during which I do not move my arms. These are common exercises (most people use a kickboard, but it's the same thing with less neck strain). The lap timing is therefore useless. If I were really a serious swimmer, I would be using other tools and drilling differently, so this is not mission critical for me, but I was hoping to use this to push myself. I mean, it's called "Inspire."
I like the Fitbit so far and simply having a HR monitor is interesting for me with the various exercises I do. I haven't done a couple of things that will show me more about the performance of the device (ski dryland training, which I haven't done because I've been skiing and Octagon class, which is functional training, and on a holiday break).
Thank you!

@Diehardxmasmuvi Welcome to the Fitbit Community! I hope you're doing well! Sorry for the delay in my reply.
Let me help you with your heart rate readings on your Inspire HR. I suggest you clean the back of your device with cotton and rubbing alcohol and restart it. Turn the heart rate off, save and sync then turn it on save and sync again. Also check these tips to improve the heart rate reading on your device.
Regarding swim detection, Fitbit devices are designed to detect normal swimming movements which are based on arm and leg movements. If you do something different then it will be difficult for the device to properly detect the exercise but you can manually log the activity if you wish. You can find instructions on how this feature works here. Additionally you can find great tips other users have shared here, especially the one that notes that you need to touch the wall every time so it properly detects your laps.
You can share your ideas on how to improve Fitbit devices in our Feature Suggestions board. Search for the idea first to see if one already exist so you can add your vote. The more votes an idea gets the more likely the developers will try to implement it.
Let me know how it goes.
