Inspire HR not syncing, over-counts steps and battery draining quickly

since I got this thing I've had nothing but issues. Not only is it stupidly sensitive, it won't sync regularly, just goes completely dead on me at least three times a week at this point, to where I have to bring it home and put it on the charger and reset it to get it to work again. Right now I'm going through this seemingly endless 🙂 mode where it won't do anything at all, won't sync, won't charge, won't do anything. I wish I hadn't decided to just give it a good chance, and just returned it like I wanted to less than a week after I got it. Now customer service just gives me oh, reset this reset that... There's an update for the app. It's not the app, it's the device and I'm so unhappy with it I could just scream. I didn't spend over $100 for this thing just to be a sometimes watch, most of the time paperweight. I wish I could just go back to my old Charge.

@Bubbles8505 Welcome to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here!

Let me help you with your Inspire HR and the different issues you have described and thank you for troubleshooting this issue. Let's start with the charging difficulties. Try cleaning the contacts using cotton swab with rubbing alcohol, then charge it by plugging it for a couple of hours directly to your computer's USB port (try different ports) or use an UL-certified USB adapter. After this, restart your device and see how it behaves. You can follow these instructions to help your tracker charge.

Regarding the syncing issues you can try the following:

  • Go to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there.
  • Restart your phone.
  • Check that no battery saving app/feature on your phone is affecting your Fitbit app.
  • Also, if you are using an Android device, check that your app has the necessary permissions (settings > apps > Fitbit > permissions) and make sure bluetooth and location services (GPS) are on.
  • You can find troubleshooting instructions here.

Finally regarding the sensitivity counting steps. Your device will detect the movement on your arm and translate that movement into steps. There are situations in which your arm may move but you won't be actually walking. For example, this may happen when you are playing the drums, burping a baby or clapping. It can also happen while driving. You can negate these steps by logging a driving activity. You can try wearing your device on your non dominant hand but select that hand as dominant on the device’s settings to make it less sensitive to movement.

Let me know how it goes.
