My sleep pattern is not being tracked every night.  Why is this? How can it be fixed?

Nice to see you on the Fitbit Forums again @Lexiloo2010. Thanks for reporting the issues that you're having with your sleep tracking using Inspire HR. My apologies for the delay.

You can see some details on how to wear your Fitbit Inspire here, it will help your sleep tracking. I'd like to mention that all of our wrist-based devices automatically detect your sleep using the same technology. Auto-detection is based on your movement. When you haven’t moved for about an hour, your device assumes that you’re asleep.

Additional data such as the length of time your movements are indicative of sleep behavior (such as rolling over) help confirm that you’re asleep. Morning movement tells your tracker that you’re awake. If you’re not moving but not asleep for long periods of time it’s possible for your device to falsely record sleep, in which case you can delete the sleep log from your history.

If you're still not getting your sleep information on the Fitbit App, please confirm that your Inspire HR has synced with your mobile or syncing device. You can also restart your Fitbit and check the sensitivity of your Fitbit.

Your device's setting can record your sleep in either "sensitive" mode for extremely detailed sleep reporting or "normal" mode for a more basic idea of your sleep patterns. Note that if you use a Fitbit device with heart-rate tracking to detect your sleep stages, this setting doesn't apply.

  • The normal setting counts significant movements as being awake (such as rolling over) and is appropriate for most users.
  • The sensitive setting will cause your device to record nearly all movements as time spent restless or awake. This setting may be helpful for users who wake up feeling tired even though their sleep history shows sufficient rest.

If you use the Fitbit app for Android you must change your sleep sensitivity setting on fitbit.com.

Some users have reported better sleep tracking when using the option "on clip" instead of "on wrist", you can find the instructions on how to do so in the manual page 12 and 18.

Keep me posted.
