My Inspire HR is not accurately tracking my sleep. Sometimes it doesn't track it at all! I have tried resetting it a few times, but that has not worked. HELP, PLEASE! Thanks!

Hi guys, nice to see you around @lbgkbg@Kymickeyfan717@rsaugust@PaulCC@CindiLi and @Arentsen. Thanks for sharing the screenshots @DuppieSorry for the delayed response.

Welcome to the Forums to our new users @Stacey2309@AShifThanks for jumping in @Julia_G. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks a million for reporting the issues that you're having with the sleep function on your Fitbit Inspire HR. I'm reviewing each one of the cases, but I'd like to review a couple of important things about tracking sleep.

As mentioned before, there are a few scenarios where you might see your sleep pattern (which shows your time asleep, restless, and awake) instead of sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours. Your device needs at least 3 hours of sleep data to estimate your sleep stages, so you won’t see sleep stages for shorter naps.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

For more information about why you see your sleep pattern, tap or click the sleep record that shows your sleep pattern.

If you already checked the information below, please restart your Fitbit Inspire and try the steps below.

  1. Open Fitbit App, go to Account (upper right corner) > Delete Fitbit tracker from the Account
  2. Open the Bluetooth Setting on your phone and delete Fitbit tracker from there too
  3. Reboot Bluetooth to make sure tracker is not there
  4. Restart your tracker a couple of times and Access back to Fitbit App > Account to set up your Fitbit Inspire HR back
  5. Turn on notifications

If you're not getting your sleep stages on the Fitbit App, but you can see sleep pattern, like you can see on the screenshots here, please delete that log and enter a new one to see if this helps.

Give it a try and keep me posted.

Hi thank you for trying to help.  I did those steps yesterday and it didn't record my first four hours of sleep last night.  Today I factory reset my fitbit from the settings menu on the tracker and then added it back into my account.  I am hoping the factory reset will have a positive effect on the sleep tracking.  Will post an update tomorrow.

We already tried all that’s been mentioned.   We didn’t have this issue on other fitbits and are wearing the device in the same manner .  This is getting very frustrating with the lack of support when we call in.  It’s always the same answer and no solution

Update for this day-  tried everything except resetting. Last nite it correctly picked up my sleep start and end times but with a big chunk of time missing in the middle and no details.

At this point I’m going to conclude that the Inspire HR does not track sleep accurately and will be sure to mention this in all reviews. If Fitbit fixes the issue- great. But in the meantime I will look for another device.

The minimum 3 hour sleep window in order for it to start tracking your sleep seems a bit ridiculous imho.  Once it shows you’re asleep it shows awake periods the rest of the night with no problem it seems.  People with sleep issues often don’t sleep for 3 hour periods and is why they may be purchasing the tracker in part to begin with.

We can set our sleep times and would think if inactivity follows during that time period it shouldn’t have to be 3 hours consecutively of little movement in order for it to track sleep 😴.

Last night it showed me not falling asleep again until 2:30, I was probably asleep by 11:40 so again that 3 hour rule in the software should really be changed.

That and the extra steps it counts while I style my hair, sweep the floor etc has me looking or another tracker in this price range.  Its too bad because I really love everything about the tracker other then these two major flaws.  I will probably try the Garmin Vivosmart 4.

Also I should mention that I did do a factory reset on mine yesterday but it didn’t help any of these issues.

Last night it showed me again not falling asleep until 2:39am.  The garmin correctly showed me falling asleep at 11:50 which was correct.

Thanks for the info. Last nite my Inspire HR had me sleeping 11/2 hrs. I actually slept from 1:30 to 8:30! This is ridiculous. I might check out the Garmin

Hi folks. Just wanted to check in here.

@rsaugust  For any newcomers to the thread, I can recommend taking a look at the information detailed in this sleep article. @YojanaFitbit has also provided some great guidance above for sleep stages.

@CindiLi @Kymickeyfan717  Thank you for sharing the details of what you are experiencing. I will be sure to forward this feedback to our team.

Worth noting: the three-hour window only refers to the logging of Sleep Stages (Inspire HR only). Naps at least an hour in length should be automatically detected by your device and stored in your sleep history.

I hope this helps! Feel free to let me know how your sleep is recorded this weekend.

Mine is like that too and my sleep record cuts off in the middle of the night

I, too, am finding that the Inspire HR is not always tracking sleep stages and in fact is missing some chunks of my time asleep. I always wake up at least once during the night, and it is missing sleep before that awake episode.

@MattFitbit

Thanks for the clarification on the 3hr window.  So if it should detect sleep after one hour, it definitely has not been.  Out of 7 nights it detected my entire sleep length only once.  The main problem with mine seems to be it doesn’t record any sleep before the first time I wake up in the middle of the night.  So for instance, if I fall asleep around 11:45 and wake up around 2:30 for a few minutes then go right back to sleep the whole first segment is not recorded to my fitbit app nor counted in my total sleep for the night.

I just upgraded from Flex 2 to Inspire HR for the enhanced sleep features, however my output isn't showing the light, REM and deep phases either. It's just showing the bar chart that I had on the Flex 2. I did not start/end the sleep cycle in the app....just had the Inspire HR on my wrist when I went to bed. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the app, but with no success. Any idea on how I can get the enhanced sleep output to show up on the app?

Exact same problem here. Last night I fell asleep at around 1:30 maybe 2 am but it only showed me asleep starting at 5:30 am (probably after a woke for a minute and went back to sleep). If I have to remember or guesstimate the time I actually started sleeping  then what’s the point of having a tracker?

very frustrating!

@Jessiejack @drcando @CindiLi @Lloyd2 @rsaugust Thanks to each of you for getting back to me with the details around your sleep experiences. I will be sure to relay this feedback to our engineers and have them take a look as well.

In the meantime, please continue to use the best practices that have been posted above. I will continue to check in periodically to see how things are going.

I had this issue to! The sleep tracker worked the first night I had the device, but last night it did not work at all! The sleep icon was also greyed on on the device. I read some of your comments, and after switching the device to my dominant hand and turning the sleep settings to sensitive the icon showed up and I will see if it tracks sleep properly tonight.

I am really disappointed that I had to go through all those steps to make a function, that should work all the time, work.

I hope they come up with a better solution.

Thanks

Mine is new from yesterday. Last night it did fine tracking my sleep. Then at 7:17pm tonight it decided I was asleep again until 9:22. I was walking around my house and making dinner and very obviously not asleep. It also registered 200 steps while I was driving. I will be returning mine.

This is what happened to me. My Fitbit inspire is not even a week old. First two nights it tracked sleep and after a charge just stopped. So far I’m very disappointed. All advice welcome.

There seems to be a big problem with the new Inspire HR correctly logging sleep.

I’m only getting blocks and no details on sleep phases as I used to on my Alta HR.

Is this something Fitbit are aware of and not letting their customers know about the new inspire version?

Not very happy as tried all the suggested ‘fixes’ and nothing works!
