Restarted multiple times. The sleep tracking app will not work. The only reason I bought this product was for the sleep tracking function. I don’t believe I should have to do it manually. Has there been a resolution for this? Or is there something established on how to return them for a refund as the product not working as promised?

@lorigeorgia Welcome to the Community.
Let me help you with this and thank you for troubleshooting this issue. Your device will start recording sleep after it detects an hour of inactivity. If you have a light sleep or move too much then this may difficult your sleep detection. Additionally you can try wearing your device on your non dominant hand to decrease the amount of movement it is subjected to. Finally you can restart your device. You can also manually log your sleep time. You can read more about sleep detection here.
I also moved your post to its own thread as it was not the same issue.
Let me know how it goes.

Hello and thank you for the reply. Not true. The item worked as promised and track my sleep and sleep patterns. It stopped tracking completely on November 8. It has not been damaged as the heart rate still works. I communicated with chat twice. Restarting and factory restore still sleep tracking doesn’t work. They are escalating it to another tier for investigation. Me, tracking my own sleep is unacceptable. I purchased this device for the sleep tracking. If your product is unable to deliver as promised, please replace it or let me know how to return it so I can get my money back and buy a different product preferably from a different vendor that will stand behind their product.
I kindly wait your company’s response

@lorigeorgia thank you for your reply and additional details.
I do get where you are coming from. Please do let our Support team know that you are seeking these options (replacement o refund) so they can see your options based on your tracker's warranty.
Keep me posted.

I am having the same issue. It used to work fine but recently stopped tracking sleep properly. Sometimes it works, sometimes not at all. Sometimes it tracks my sleep but, incorrectly. It says I went to sleep later than I did or woke up earlier than I did.
I will try restarting it (again) but I wondered is it normal for Fitbit Inspires to only have a short shelf life? I’ve had mine for a year & 3 months. Do they always start to misfunction after a certain amount of time?

Hey IamNads
Mine doesn’t track at all. Nothing. Still waiting to hear back from support.
I had a charge2 for almost three years. Loved it. Not happy that the inspire has malfunctioned this soon and with others reporting the same issue not good.
totally dispose the suggestion that we should manually track sleep. If that is the case I could have bought a notebook and pencil.

I have not heard from them yet.

Totally agree! Having to track sleep manually completely defeats the purpose of buying a Fitbit in the first place. Hope there is a solution or else it seems I will have to switch to a different brand, which is a shame as my device is only a year old.

I got mine yesterday as a Christmas present and it didn't track anything for sleep. I went into the app and manually entered the time it suggested that I went to sleep and now it says 8 hours, which is rubbish as I woke up 4 times. There is mo data recorded from the device at all, despite wearing it tightly on my alternate wrist. Like you, the sleep function is the main reason I wanted it. Is there something else I need to do to set up sleep tracking initially or should it just auto detect it? It's counting my steps and heart rate fine....

Ok so update: I removed the device from the app and resynced it. Entered "going to sleep" on the app last night and it did record sleep stages and awake times etc 🙂

Try removing it from the app and resyncing it. Worked for me

Thanks, will try removing it from the app and resyncing - it’s worth a try. Although, you shouldn’t have to enter “going to sleep” on the app for it to work. I’ve had my Fitbit for over a year and never had to do that before. It’s supposed to track sleep automatically.

I uninstalled, reinstalled. Nope did not work.
Emailing with tech support, they are like a dog with a bone and focusing on the band.
Restarted - nope
factory reset - nope
switched arms - nope
Uninstalled and reinstalled device on app - nope.
Because I purchased the device specifically to help track my sleep issues, which it did when purchased and no it has stopped functioning as advertised.
I will not track my sleep manually.

Yeah that's not cool; I hope they replace it for you. I got a 3yr extended warranty because the sales assistant said the battery on these often fails after 13 or so months, which they can't help with outside of 12 months, but they can replace it under extended warranty when that happens.
Disappointing when something doesn't work as it's supposed to 😞
