Inspire HR not turning on

My Fitbit will be a year old in this coming June.  I have worn it all over the place. Yesterday I spent the day at the beach and the face stopped working right. It was only showing a smiley face and the exclamation point that usu. means that it is low on battery.  I have worn it to the beach numerous times, but never has this happened.  When I got home, I noticed that the green sensor lights were no longer on and could not get anything on the watch face.  The smiley face would not come up when I held down the side button. so I put it on my charger overnight and nothing this morning. I just logged in on computer, and it says last synced 9:40 pm last night.  So it seems like my phone was syncing with the watch.  I hope someone can tell me what to do to get it to work again.  thanks in advance!

I read what you suggested and tried it and no luck.  It is like my Fitbit is dead and is not working.  The last signs of life that it had were a smiley face and then an exclamation point.  I am trying to contact customer support right now.  But it's a long wait.

So I got in touch with Customer Support and I am still under warranty.  So they are sendng me out a new Fitbit.  And that's great.  But I am curious as to why this happened

Are Fitbit not designed to be on the beach near sand and water?  Or maybe the sunscreen messed with it?  I have worn my Fitbit on the beach before but I don't know why this time is different.

The Fitbit stopped working midday at the beach and all it would show was a smiley face and an exclamation point.  about 6 hours later when I got home, there was no sign of anything on the face of the Fitbit at all.  I put it on the charger overnight and then in the morning when I checked it, still nothing on face, but the Fitbit is actually very warm.  Any thoughts so that when I get my new Fitbit device, I will not do the same thing.  Thanks
