Inspire HR only works when plugged in

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I recently (within ~ two months) purchased an Inspire HR. Yesterday, I noticed that my display was not on and the device was not responding to taps/button pushes, so I thought it must be a dead battery. I plugged it in overnight only to discover this morning that the device is still not functioning. I plugged it in again, the smiley face appeared, and the display came on. But as soon as I unplugged it everything shut down again.

Every time I plug it in, the device appears to restart and function. And as soon as I take it off the charger it goes dead again.

When plugged in, it syncs, and I can see that it is showing a full battery.

I have attempted to restart the device several times, the issue persists.

Not sure where to go from here?

This happened to me twice before the year of warrant they replaced it and now it just occurred and they would not replace since the warrant is over.  This Fitbit Inspire HR sucks.  since it keep dying.

I've had my Inspire HR since December 2019 and have occasionally had glitches where the battery would die quickly or the watch face was just blank. I couldn't tell if the watch was dead or if the lighting somehow went out, because sometimes it still seemed to sync with my app. Eventually, usually within hours, it would work again. It was frustrating at times, but when it worked it worked great. I'm a swimmer and I swim by time rather than length, so it's fun to see how far I've gone, calories burned, etc. Then earlier this month there was a day when I had to charge the watch 5 times in one day. Then I got the smiley face. Then nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch. It was gone. No amount of charging and waiting has worked. RIP Inspire HR. So now do I spend money on a new Fitbit? Or just say, it was nice knowing you, but I'm moving on to something that hopefully will last longer? Being 18 months old, I doubt Fitbit would offer me a replacement (but I would definitely accept one!).

@Mtopete Thank you for your reply.

I'm sorry to see that it wasn't possible to obtain a replacement device. It is particularly difficult when the device is no longer covered by the warranty, but even tough Support is eager to help with any problem you may experience with the product, they do need to adhere to the official warranty policy, this would start counting from the original date of purchase.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback; comments from users are always useful to continue to improving the quality of products and services.

This just happened to me too! Went swimming and now it only works when charging. My inspire is supposed to be swim proof, but I guess not. Tried to reset, left to charge overnight, nothing. When I take it off the charge, screen doesn’t come on and button doesn’t work. Help!

So I read all 67 replies - it looks like if it is no longer under warranty there is no solution?

That's a bummer, I really like a lot of the features of the fitbit but if it can't be resolved then...

Thank you for sharing that you're experiencing the same problem with your Inspire HR.

Unfortunately there's no official repair center from Fitbit and although the Support team is always able to assist you with any problem presented with the product, they do need to adhere to the official warranty policy, which would start counting from the original date of purchase.

In order to check the status of your warranty and what options are available for you, I do recommend that you get in touch with the Customer Support team here, so they can let you know how to proceed.

Has anyone gotten this problem resolved?  My Fitbit (bought in December 2019) is having the same problem. I haven’t used it in a year because it started acting up, and only now did I notice that many others had the same problem. It’s fully charged, but as soon as I remove it from the charger the screen turns black.

Does anyone know how to resolve this?
