I walk (4 mph) a measured course of 4 miles every day. I've had my HR for just over a week and have used "Run" to track myself. The distance walked has never been right and has never been close. It has varied from 3.65 miles to 1.98 miles. I have tried varying my stride length manually and that has not helped. Yesterday, with GPS on I registered 3.65 miles. Today, with GPS on I registered 1.98 miles. In addition, the number of steps counted has varied from 8000+ on most days to 7000+ today. Obviously, there is a problem. Any suggestions/help?

@SunsetRunner Welcome to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here!
I will gladly assist you with this issue and thank you for checking your stride length. Are you only using the Connected GPS feature when recording your distance? If this is the case then please try these suggestions to improve the distance recording when using your phone's GPS signal.
Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for the explanation. I misunderstood that the HR had to be connected to the phone GPS for accuracy. Did that this morning and got everything I wanted, along with the correct distance.

Thanks for this. I will try turning off my wifi when walking. My walks have been WAY off on the mileage.

My Fitbit s no longer accurately tracking my mileage. It did originally, but now is not. I walk the same exact path each day, one I have driven and know to be 5.6 miles. The Inspire HR I use has been giving me a different mileage count each day, progressively lessening the amount I have walked. Today it only registered as 3.57 miles. My app is on my iPad and I do not have a phone it is linked to.

I do not have a phone to connect to.
Why does it keep track at first and the get progressively off?

Same issue here; I upgraded from Alta to Inspire in part so I wouldn’t have to carry my phone with me, but Inspire is not accurately tracking swim, or run. So... what’s the point in having a tracking feature, or swim feature?
