Is Auto-Recognize the only way to track exercise. I’m use to the Charge 2 where I physically press the side button at the beginning and end of my class.

Inspire HR also has the Exercise App. Swipe down from home clock face to see Exercise screen. Tap it and then scroll up and down top see different activities.
For more on the Exercise app, see
How do I track my workouts with my Fitbit device? which has specifics for each device.
If you have never swiped that way, continue past Exercise screen to see other included apps.

I'm not up on the specifics. I expect the link I gave has it all.
At a quick look, I tapped on an exercise, the next screen is tap to start or swipe down, as indicated by the dots on the side, to set goals, and I think push button to start.
But best bet is read about it, or at least just tap screens and push buttons to figure them out.

Myself, I probably would try a test run before counting on it to track an exercise class, but that's just me.
Under the link I gave in my first reply, there is a section called
How do I start a workout in the Exercise app?
Did you find that?
And in that section for Inspire HR is
Does that cover enough to get you started?

My Inspire HR keeps (many times a day) starting activity modes, from the exercise menu, but that I didn’t actually select... the screen regularly responds inappropriately to my pushes (shuts off screen when I actually swiped up, etc.) and then acts like I’ve selected things when I’m not interacting with it at all...
