So I just got my Inpsire HR. Was using an Alta.
My steps are way off. I normally can barely get 10k steps using the Alta. On a busy day I can get 12k.
Tried out my inspire HR this weekend and it said I did over 20k steps yesterday and I’m already at 17k steps today and it’s 5 pm.
I did some gardening yesterday and today I mowed the law with our riding mower.
My Alta typically does not pick up gardening as steps or my riding mower movement.
How do I get my inspire HR to work like my Alta?
This is crazy. The only reason I got a new device is cause my battery on my Alta was iffy. Now I have no idea which tracker I should get since the Alta is no longer available.

Hi @SunshineDino, it sounds like the Inspire HR picked up steps when you were on the riding mower. This is a common issue with Fitbits, and I hope they figure this out soon. In the meantime, you can always add "Driving" as an activity and supposedly it will delete those steps. There also used to be an app, I think it was called "DriveBit" where if you had the app open and connected to your Fitbit while driving, it would automatically deduct those steps from your daily step total.
As for the overcounting of steps, this is also typical of new Fitbits. Fitbit automatically measures your stride length the first day or two when you get a new device, so your step count may be slightly higher than normal. You can manually set your stride length by following here.

Thanks. I had that problem with my old Fitbit years ago but didn’t have the problem with the Alta. I feel like I am going backwards.

Oh dear - I have just ordered an Inspire HR as I thought I had lost my trusted Fitbit Zip. Found said Zip when hanging out the washing and it is none the worse for going through the washing machine! Can you put the Inspire HR in a pocket to read the steps? I shall try wearing both when my new one arrives and compare the number of steps registered. The Zip is definitely accurate as I often do a one mile walk locally.
