Inspire HR suddenly giving me way too many steps

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Inspire HR, which has always been fairly accurate, is suddenly giving me way too many steps.  I will get a couple of thousand steps just sitting at my work desk.  This has been going one for several days.

Funny enough, it will still tell me I have XX steps to make my 250 for the hour even though my step count has gone up by over a thousand.  My app display (as opposed to the wrist display) will also jump from the high count on the wrist display to an absolutely insane one.  Yesterday evening it was jumping from 32,000 steps to 207,000 steps.

I've reset the Inspire HR twice and it hasn't made a difference.

My InspireHR is doing exactly the same. I just have to put it on to get 10,000 steps. It is not going back to zero overnight. I have tried to reboot twice, seem to do it correctly (get the smiley face) but steps still keep mounting up to ridiculous numbers. Would love some advice.

I posted on their support Twitter account and got a pretty quick response.

They had me reboot again (using the charger instead of from the face of the tracker).  That still didn't fix the problem (and I got the smiley face as well).  Since the tracker is less than a year old, they offered to replace it for free (or give me half off on an upgrade).  So I'm getting a new one.

Thanks Frank. Chat Help told me I had rebooted correctly and it should reset itself at midnight. After 3 days of failing to do that I don't know why or how. Chat then said I should unpair mobile tracker from the app because that was giving me excess steps. Hmmm. Why after all this time?

I've done that and will see if it resets tonight.

Thanks for replying

Mine is doing the same. I don't have Twitter. I hope there is another way to talk to them.

I don't have Twitter either. I used the online chat. It worked ok.

It reset overnight to zero. So worth chatting to online help.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Tammylt.

Thank you for joining the thread and sharing the details of the issue you experienced and a screenshot. I understand how you are feeling about this situation. I was able to see that you have already contacted our Support team regarding this, please continue working with them. I know they will be glad to help you out and provide a solution.

If you would like to remove the extra steps from your daily total, please follow the instructions in How do I delete steps and floors in the Fitbit app? I also recommend confirming if you have MobileTrack paired to your Fitbit account. MobileTrack lets you use the Fitbit app without a Fitbit device by using your phone's sensors to track basic activity data including steps, distance, and calories burned. For more information, see How do I use Fitbit MobileTrack? MobileTrack may add extra steps and I recommend removing it from your Fitbit account if you're not using it: How do I remove a Fitbit device from my account?

Hope this helps.
