Inspire HR too sensitive (over counting steps)

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I just bought my first FitBit and selected the Inspire HR. I am noticing that it is very sensitive when counting steps. I hadn't even left my bed and it said i walked 15 steps. I checked the settings and the sleep setting is normal. My question concerns the "dominant vs non-dominate" wrist. I have it on my left hand, which is my non-dominant hand. If i keep it on my left hand but change the setting to "dominant" would it be less sensitive to my movements or more?

@DanaM1982 A warm welcome to our Community!

Let me help you with your Inspire HR overcounting steps. Your device will detect the movement on your arm and translate that movement into steps. There are situations in which your arm may move but you won't be actually walking. For example, this may happen when you are playing the drums, burping a baby or clapping. It can also happen when driving. You can negate these steps by logging a driving activity. Also you are right. you can try wearing your device on your non dominant hand but select that hand as dominant on the device’s settings to make it less sensitive to movement.

Let me know how it goes.

This is also happening to me and nothing is working! It was working fine until the new iOS update, now I’m getting 10.000 steps by walking 3km. It’s crazy. It’s super unreliable as I use my fitbit to count calories and now I don’t know what to do. Please help! I am switched to dominant hand and wearing it on the left and still it counts steps CONSTANTLY.

I have tried everything from changing the dominant hand setting, adding a new device, changing my walking stride & not moving my hand. I have had the Inspire HR for 2 days & I have never walked so many steps while my legs aren't moving. It used to take me a full 12 hours just to get to 2000 steps & now I'm getting 6471 in 10 hours. There has to be a fix!

I got my inspire as a Christmas gift and I am having the same issue. It is significantly over counting steps for any minor activity. All the suggested fixes are not working. Is there some software fix for this.

Not to my knowledge. I just put mine on my dominant hand to see if that
works. This morning I logged 216 steps from just brushing my hair.
