Inspire HR turning on screen when screen wake is disabled

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

It would be nice to have the option to turn off the touchscreen / lock the screen and be able to open it only with the button.

Now, even with the screen wake disabled, the screen turns on if my shirt brushes up against the touch screen.

Good idea, thanks for taking the time to share it with us @KarinaUWe look forward to hearing what other community members think about having the option to disable the touchscreen! Robot Happy

I completely. To wear it at night is completely useless if one is waked up just by the screen light. Also with a partner at your side, you don't want to wake him/her either.

I would like the option to turn off my fitbit inspire hr. Thank you.

The "quick view" setting on my Fitbit Charge works like a charm. I bought my wife the Inspire HR thinking the quick view setting would apply only to discover that it doesn't exist for her device. HUGE BUMMER. Now my wife has to take off her device before she sleeps because it wakes both of us up when it lights up the entire room in the multiple times in the middle of the night. Please apply the quick view setting to the Fitbit HR. It's a no-brainer customer-friendly solution.

Disable touch screen when screen is locked.

And wake up screen with home button only.

Touch screen will be enabled as long as the screen is on.

Why this feature:

1. save battery life

2. avoid screen light during sleeping.

Could not agree more with this. I read so many reviews of the Inspire and prior Fitbit devices and none mentioned this super annoying flaw in the Fitbit devices. It's driving my wife and I both nuts, lighting up the room at night when one of us shifts their position in the bed. I really don't know how this can be considered a sleep tracker when so little thought has been put into, well, using at night while sleeping!

Please please consider adding something to prevent the screen coming on at night. Other options than those mentioned here:

-set night time hours where the screen cannot be turned on easily (maybe only with a double tap of the physical button)

-have some ability to change brightness of screen (super dim mode for night use)

Right now I have had to disable the wrist gesture to turn the screen on because it turns on at night (i know i can keep toggling it on and off but that just means the next night I forget till it lights up the room once more.

@YojanaFitbit Thanks for pointing me to this thread.

Just a clarification: seems we've been wrong to disable the touch screen we've been talking in this thread.

The Inspire HR monitors the motion you double tapping your device. You don't have to tap the screen, you can double(or triple) tap your band near the device to wake up the device.  I am pretty sure the FITBIT OS engineers know how the screen will be waken up by what kind of motions.

One thing for sure, the touch screen actually has already been locked. So my suggestion for this is to:

1) add one option in settings to let user enable/disable monitoring of this motion that wakes up screen

2) Or disable monitoring of this motion when it's in sleeping hours.

Let's work together to make FITBIT better before we return it.

Please make this happen.

I bought it mostly for sleep tracking and now I can't use it at night because the screen keeps waking me up (Screen Wake is off) throughout the night.

It would be great if Clip mode on the Inspire only turned on the screen when the button on the side was pressed. This would save battery.

Impossible to put a toddler to bed with the “touch-on” feature on the inspire HR!! Please please please disable touchscreen when screen is off! Considering returning this Fitbit because it’s highly inconvenient to use.

I bought the inspire as a gift for my wife. (I have been using a Charge HR on and off for the last 4 years. Now that we have -  2 kids, I thought my wife would benefit from some sleep tracking) The MAIN issue is that the screen comes on too easily. There has to be a way to make it active ONLY by pressing the button. This is a simple setting that should exist. Impossible to wear if you are attempting to put kids to sleep while nursing or if you are sleeping next to light sensitive kids. Please help roll out. A simple toggle shouldn't be that hard to integrate and make this a true parent friendly device.  One of the main reasons I got her the inspire vs the Charge 3 was because I assumed that the switch would be the main launcher vs touch. Hope this feedback forum is something that will be taken seriously vs be just a place to vent...

I got this tracker to try to improve my sleeping habits but it’s a total fiasco. I remove it as soon as I get in bed to avoid being disturbed by its screen glowing everytime I move. In the morning I often forget to put it on again so most of the time I simply don’t use it. As someone said: total bummer!!

i wonder how many more people need to be made disappointed before Fitbit fixes this poor design.

Super poor design. I bought it for sleep tracking but have trouble falling and staying asleep because the bright light turns on with every movement from brushing against anything(even with sleep mode enabled). It even shows me all the times I've been woken up during the night because of it. I've been exhausted ever since the first night using it. Is there a way to dim the screen at least? I can't believe it doesn't have these basic features

Hi everybody, nice to see you around. Sorry for the delayed response.

Thanks for sharing with us your Fitbit experience with Inspire HR and for confirming that you've checked that screen wake can be toggled on/off by holding down the button on Inspire and tapping on 'Screen Wake'. Note: even with screen wake turned off, your screen will still light up when double tapped.

Now, thanks to your feedback and other comments from our users, we’re aware that some of you are having issues with the screen being too sensitive. We're working to identify a resolution as quickly as possible. We're sorry for any trouble. We appreciate your patience and look forward to getting you back on track.

By the way, I'm moving this thread to the Inspire HR board for categorization purposes.

Please me us know if there's anything we can do to assist you in the meantime.

I just came seeking a solution to this very problem with putting young kids to bed. This thread has confirmed my new device is getting returned tomorrow, it’s a deal breaker for me. I’ll be warning my mom friends too! People have been complaining for months and still no solution other than “your band needs to be tighter”...

Best Answer

If that were true that would be a perfect solution, but the screen on my Inspire HR lights up when single-tapped (or touched, or brushed against) when screen wake is turned off. In other words, turning off screen wake stops the screen from lighting up when I raise my wrist, but does not affect the way it lights up when touched. If an update could make screen wake function as described here, where it lights up only when double tapped (or alternatively, only when the button is pressed), that would be a great improvement for nighttime use.
