Inspire HR water damage

I went for a swim in my friends pool with my Inspire HR feeling confident that it  will not harm the device in anyway but instead when I woke up the next day, not only did the battery duration drop, but there was a small droplet that appeared on the interior of the display. I placed the device in rice hoping that it would at least get rid of the moisture. The next day I realized the droplet had disappeared so I thought it’ll be somewhat back to normal. Now after 2 more days the spot on the screen where the droplet originally was, is bleeding purple and showing signs of damage on the display. Seeing as to how the Fitbit device itself has an option for Swimming  and that it’s “Swim-proof in a lake, pool, or ocean (up to 50 meters)”, I expected to face no issues whatsoever.

At this stage, what actions should be taken? For reference purchased my Fitbit on July 6th 2019 I’ve only had my Inspire HR for 11 days so far.

Hi @M.Omidzad  You are right - it should withstand swimming (mine does) I have flagged a moderator to come and help you.

Hi. I have the exact same problem. My Fitbit inspire HR is less than a month old and I went swimming and now have condensation on the screen, can’t swipe the screen at all and The battery is lasting less than 24 hours on a full charge. Aside from sticking it in rice, is there anything else to try?

or do I need to return it???

Hi, I’m having the same issue with my Inspire HR. Recently noticed the battery depleting after 24-48hrs. After my most recent charge it won’t turn on and there are visible water droplets in the back sensor and on one corner of the screen.

I have the same issue. Got my Inspire HR three months ago and been swimming with it without any problems until the virus outbreak. Now just staying at home but my fitbit got two little water droplets inside it just from washing my hands. I even dry it with a towel afterwards. My screen doesn’t scroll nor it turns on with movement. Tried the rice but didn’t work out either. I’d also like a solution from the Fitbit Customer Service.

Hey Dragoneve! Thank you very much for replying to my post.

I am living outside of US so I think that would be out of question, especially with recent events. I was really hoping for a diy-fix like rice but seems like there aren’t any. Additionally my battery dried out just in couple of hours today, unfortunately it’s getting worse.

I bought mine on amazon and will write to fitbit through there too, hope there will be a solution in the end and fitbit customer service will get back to me in meanwhile.

My Inspire HR has gone all wonkey and I believe it is due to water damage. At first I couldn’t get to other screens when tapping it. So I changed the clock face to display all my stats. I still couldn’t navigate off the screen though. Then I noticed the battery would be dead within 2 days and now with in 8 hours. I also noticed in the light a watermark under the cover... yet I haven’t been swimming. The only thing I can think of is showers and doing dishes. My Fitbit is around a year old and I’m really disappointed. This is my 9th or 10th one. All of my others have broken too. Either the bands went or they just stopped working. Debating on switching brands completely.

This happened to me as well. I purchased this FitBit Inspire HR on October 31, 2019 and used it without a problem until the past week or so when I wore it in the pool. First the touch screen stopped working, then the whole display broke.

To further compound the problem, I called customer service this morning and was told by the rep that the Inspire HR was not waterproof, just splash proof. I double checked the manual, saw that it was swim proof, and called customer service again. This time, another rep again tried to tell me that it was just splash proof. I told her that the manual clearly states it is supposed to be swimproof. She was very rude to me and said, "What do you think will happen if you take an electronic in the water?" She insisted that I put my FitBit in rice for 24 hours before she could help me. But if the Inspire HR is supposed to be swim proof and it breaks when it gets in water, doesn't that mean it's defective? I purposely chose a FitBit that I could swim in.

I have had one FitBit or another for five years now and have been frustrated by how frequently they break. The very rude customer service today put me over the edge. My husband recently switched to Garmin and I think I will too.

Hallelujah! Your story is identical to mine! I was able to switch back to my original Inspire as my Inspire HR is crap ever since it was exposed to water. Although, I never swam with it; I just washed dishes! Over the last 8 years I have owned 12 Fitbits! Either the bands broke or they just stopped working. I have debated switching to a Garmin and would love to hear how your husbands experience is going. My husband and I are ready for a more quality fitness tracker as these seem to be flawed.

I have the same issue. I've only showed with my Inspire HR. The screen has condensation inside and the battery charge does not last nearly as long as it should.

This happened to me as well, I can see condensation on the inside of my Fitbit Inspire Hr from the back and it will not charge or turn on. However, I swam with it on all summer and it was fine until recently? I already contacted support and they’re replacing it but still frustrating I won’t have it for perhaps another week.
