Inspire HR will not turn on or respond at all

So today I let my fitbit run out of battery by accident, but even after leaving it on the charger for 1 hour at least it still gives no response.

It will not vibrate, or light up, the green light is not flashing, and holding the button has no reaction.

I think I saw the smiley face once when I first connected it, but nothing beyond that (after the 1 hour on the charger). Ive tried 3 different outlets/usb ports and two different fitbit chargers since to try and elicit any response but still nothing. Oh and I have cleaned the little charging terminal in case it was dirty.

My last ditch effort is going to be leaving it on all night but I have doubts that will work, so suggestions?

Hi, @Goldcat , if you allow your Fitbit to die completely it can sometimes become unresponsive - that does not mean it is gone for good, but it almost always means you will have to work harder to get it to restart.

First, always give a Fitbit that has died completely a good two hours charge on an outlet known to be working and using a good quality UL/CE certified wall plug.  The original one that came with your cell phone should be ideal, as long as it will accept a USB cable.  Do not use your computer or laptop to charge in this instance.  In most cases it will only deliver charge when it is awake and active, so unless you are using your computer during the full two hours the Fitbit is unlikely to get significant charge.

Once it has had two hours charge, press and hold the button.  It is very important that the Fitbit remains plugged in for charging the entire time you are holding the button, so be very careful that it does not become disconnected from the charger.  You are ordinarily advised to hold the button for 5 seconds.  However, if the Fitbit has become unresponsive you will probably need to hold it much longer - for up to 20-30 seconds.  If that doesn’t work the first time, try again, making sure it is connected to the charger.

This almost always fixes the problem you are reporting, unless the Fitbit has been allowed to die completely repeatedly over a period of time (although occasionally letting it to die probably won’t do much harm, doing that repeatedly is really not good for the battery and will affect its long term performance).

Please do try this, and let is know how it goes.

Hi @Julia_G , Unfortunatly this doesn't appear to have worked. I left it plugged into a known working outlet all night with a brand new charger I happened to have (I tested it with my partners fitbit to confirm the outlet worked, it connected right away) and have tried holding the button (for the recommended time) a couple of times with no response, being sure to keep it on the charger.

This is the only time I have let it die completely.

Is there anything else I should try or just continue to leave it plugged in for another day?

Hi @Goldcat my suggestion is not that you hold the button for the “recommended time” but that you hold it for a LOT longer.

Try 20-30 seconds, and if that odesn’t work do it once more.

If twice trying holding the button for 20-30 seconds while making sure that the whole time holding the button it is attached to the charger, then you probably need to get in touch with Customer Support
