I put my Fitbit Inspire HR on the charger as I had previously done, but the display has stayed black, and it is randomly vibrating. Sometimes, a happy face will appear, then fades away and the screen stays black.

Well David, so I see a new Fitbit replacement has absolutely no warranty then. I'd love to chat to the Head Person in charge or even send back this Fitbit that was suppose to be new in late Dec. .
I've had so much trouble with the Inspire HR ever since they came out. As you will notice so have about 95 % of the people in this forum are complaining about the same issue with the Inspire HR. Maybe this company needs to look at what all the problems are with them lasting about 3 months...it's a big rip off as far as I am concerned. I had another Fitbit for almost 4 years no problems..

I'd like an address for someone important. Not the call center. I'd love to return all the crappy fitbits you've sent
sad to think a product last no longer than 3 months.....maybe mention that to the CEO!

Welcome to the Community forums, @prisonface.
Thank you for sharing that you've been experiencing the same inconvenience with your Inspire HR device.
Before considering other options, if this is related to the display, let me know if you've tried the restart procedure, and the steps listed in this article in case that this problem is more related to the battery.
Hope this helps.

Your mileage may vary. I just bought a new Inspire HR that won't turn on, and the customer service rep told me I needed to perform a system update on a mobile phone. I don't own a mobile phone. I asked how to go about getting my money back and she rudely told me to return it where I bought it, and then hung up on me without another word. Why on earth would Fitbit not make it clear that a mobile phone is REQUIRED to use these devices? You shouldn't just assume that everyone has one. This is one of the worst companies I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with, and the customer service was appalling.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @SPRobson.
I'm sorry to see that you've experienced this inconvenience with your new Inspire HR.
Although it's true that most users use a mobile device to sync their data, it is possible to do it through a computer as well. Whether it's with the Fitbit app installed on the computer or with the Fitbit Connect program, but not all devices appear on the list when you try to set up with the PC, so it is recommended to set up using a smartphone, if possible.
Regarding the firmware update, you can also try to follow the instructions here to complete it using a computer, but I understand if you already returned the device due to these inconveniences. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about the product and Customer Service as well. If you wish to contact them through a different channel, you can also chat or send us an e-mail. Click here to get connected.
Have a great day.

My Inspire HR stopped working too. I noticed it was running low on battery yesterday and so it has been charging since then, but it will not turn on anymore. It showed a smiley face a couple of times after pressing the button for 10 seconds, and then this disappeared. My phone app does not recognise a connection to it either.

hi Davide,
I've tried all of those steps but the device just won't turn on at all.
I don't know if it just died so hasn't been charging at all since yesterday, and every time I plug it in to try charging it, the device becomes very hot (not the USB charing cable though).
I appreciate any help with this. Thanks

It get the smile, but no vibration. Time and stats show up while on the charger but I have a black screen on my wrist. It refuses to sync.

Exactly! So frustrated!

I think I solved this...for me at least.
Here's what I believe is happening: you're not holding the button long enough.
If the battery is reeeeally dead, it won't charge properly.
If you put it on the charger, press and hold side button for ONLY A COUPLE SECONDS, the smile face will appear, device reboots, problem NOT solved.
If you hold the button for like TEN SECONDS, the device will reboot twice.
Keep doing this every couple of minutes for maybe 3 cycles, allowing the battery to charge a little each time.
Then take it off the charger once you've attained sufficient battery level. Hope this works, sorry if it doesn't.

@Cayematthews Thank you for sharing that you're experiencing the same inconvenience with your Inspire HR and that you already tried the troubleshooting steps mentioned earlier. If you already tied the restart procedure and you were able to see the smiley face after holding the button for a at least 5 seconds, I do recommend that you contact the Customer Support team here so they can provide you with further instructions.
@g_bren Thank you for taking the time to share the solution that you found for this problem. I'm sure this will be useful for other users as well. 😎
Have a great day.

Thats my next move since the "new" Inspire keeps not getting my notifications for it to work properly I have to manually sync it every couple of hours. Its not my phone since I just pull down on the Fitbit app and it works for a couple of hours. Fitbit has become expensive for it to have so many problems.
